In a swift and coordinated operation, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt along the Takum-Jalingo road in Taraba State.
Swift Military Intervention Saves Passengers
According to a statement released on Sunday by Acting Brigade spokesperson Captain Oni Olubodunde, the intervention was prompted by a distress call from road users who witnessed the attack. Security forces immediately mobilized to Muji Town, where armed kidnappers had ambushed an 18-seater Toyota bus.
Upon arrival, the troops engaged the criminals in a fierce gunfight, utilizing superior firepower that forced the attackers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding forest.
Victims Rescued and Given Medical Attention
Among the rescued individuals were Mr. Yakubu Usman from Angwan Abuja in Takum and Mr. Godwin Peter from Angwan Dadin Kowa. Unfortunately, Mr. Peter sustained injuries during the attack and was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Meanwhile, the remaining passengers continued their journey safely.

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security in Taraba State and urged the public to provide timely and credible intelligence to help combat criminal activities effectively.
