The FCT Police detailed the sequence of events, revealing that at approximately 6:58 PM, a distress call was received at the Karu Division, reporting a catastrophic scene near Nyanya Bridge.

“A Dangote trailer, fully loaded with cement, experienced brake failure while approaching Nyanya Bridge from AYA, leading to a high-impact collision with vehicles caught in gridlock. This immediately resulted in a massive fire outbreak,” said SP Josephine Adeh.

Emergency Response and Fatalities

First responders, including the Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and security agencies, swiftly arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts to contain the inferno and rescue victims, six individuals were rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. Their remains have been deposited at Karu General Hospital Morgue.
