Tragedy In Lagos: Two Men Die After Falling Into Diesel Reservoir

Two men have died after falling into a diesel reservoir in Lagos. LASEMA confirmed the accident, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures.

Two men tragically lost their lives after falling into a diesel reservoir in the Oregun area of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident through an official statement issued on Saturday. The accident occurred along Ikosi-Oregun Road, Lagos.

Oke-Osanyintolu reported that the emergency response team was dispatched immediately after distress calls were received through the emergency toll-free lines 767 and 112 at 10:37 a.m. The LASEMA team arrived at the scene by 10:47 a.m. to discover two adult males submerged in the diesel reservoir.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the victims accidentally fell into the reservoir while working. The second man, in a heroic attempt to rescue the first, also fell into the diesel tank.

Both victims were in critical condition and were promptly transported to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) after receiving first aid treatment.

Emergency responders secured the accident site while assessing the area for further safety measures to prevent similar tragic incidents in the future.
