Tonto Dikeh N200m Lawsuit Over Deliverance Video on Schoolgirl in Abuja Secondary School

Popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh is currently facing a ₦200 million lawsuit following a viral video that showed her performing a spiritual deliverance session on a schoolgirl within a school environment.

The legal action was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by human rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi, who initiated the case on behalf of the teenage student involved. According to the legal filing, the girl, who is a Junior Secondary School (JSS1) student from Rivers State, was allegedly subjected to a religious exercise that the lawyer described as inappropriate and potentially harmful.

Obasi stated that the incident reportedly happened inside the school premises, where the actress was said to have carried out a deliverance prayer on the student during a visit. The situation later attracted public attention after the video of the event surfaced online and began circulating across different social media platforms.

The lawyer argued that publishing the footage without proper approval from the minor or her guardians violated the student’s fundamental rights. He referenced Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which protects the privacy of citizens, as well as provisions of the Child Rights Act, which safeguards children from actions that may expose them to harm, embarrassment, or public exploitation.

In the suit, the plaintiff requested that the court award ₦200 million as damages, issue an order directing a public apology, and compel the removal of the video from all online platforms where it has been shared. The legal representative also asked the court to officially declare that the act amounted to a violation of the student’s constitutional rights to dignity, protection, and personal privacy.

Reports gathered by LMSINT MEDIA indicate that the controversy began after Tonto Dikeh posted a video a few days earlier showing her praying for and conducting what she described as a spiritual deliverance for a schoolgirl. The incident allegedly took place during her visit to a secondary school located in Durumi II, Abuja, where the interaction was recorded and later uploaded to social media, leading to widespread reactions and legal consequences.
