Chelsea Ownership Dispute Overblown, Says Boehly
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has dismissed reports of tensions within the club’s ownership group, stating that the media has exaggerated the situation. Speaking with Bloomberg, Boehly emphasized that he, Behdad Eghbali, and Clearlake Capital are united in their long-term vision for the club and continue to learn from one another.
Ownership Alignment and Club Development
Boehly reassured fans that despite speculation, the Chelsea ownership remains aligned in their strategic plans. He stressed that their approach is focused on building a strong squad and maintaining stability within the club.
“What the media writes about is not realistic. We’ve been aligned with what we are trying to do and build. The status quo is just fine,” he stated.
He further highlighted that Chelsea’s investment in young talent and long-term contracts aligns with their strategy for sustained success.
“It’s a team that’s young, with long contracts. In order to do all these things we’ve done, it’s because we’re aligned,” he explained.
Chelsea’s Premier League Standing
Despite early-season momentum, Chelsea has experienced fluctuations in form. At one point, they were second in the Premier League table, closely trailing Liverpool. However, recent results have seen them slip to fourth place, with 49 points from 29 games. The race for Champions League qualification remains tight, as Manchester City, currently in fifth place, sits just one point behind Chelsea.
Future Goals and Execution of Long-Term Plans
Boehly reiterated that Chelsea’s leadership is executing a clear plan aimed at securing the club’s position among Europe’s elite. He remains confident in their ability to navigate challenges and achieve sustained success.
“We’re executing a plan that will ultimately have Chelsea where it belongs—competing at the highest level,” he affirmed.
