Tinubu’s Government Ensures Fairness in Project Distribution Across All Regions of Nigeria

The Federal Government has emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains firmly committed to fairness, justice, and inclusivity in the allocation of infrastructure projects, appointments, and national opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

According to a statement released by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government dismissed speculations suggesting marginalization of certain regions, stressing instead that the Tinubu-led administration has consistently pursued balanced development and equitable distribution since assuming office.

The statement highlighted that capital projects under President Tinubu’s leadership have been fairly allocated, ensuring that no region is treated as secondary or left behind. Beyond the ministries, departments, and agencies executing developmental works, each of the six zones now has a Regional Development Commission to drive growth and economic expansion tailored to local needs.

Major Highway and Rail Projects

The government pointed out that flagship infrastructural works demonstrate this balance. For instance:

• The Coastal Highway stretches across the southern region.
• The Badagry–Sokoto Superhighway, currently under construction, extends through the northern axis.

This deliberate distribution, the government stressed, ensures that no part of Nigeria is excluded from national development.

Simultaneous projects are ongoing nationwide, covering highways, bridges, railways, and energy infrastructure. Specifically, light rail projects worth ₦150 billion in Kano and ₦100 billion in Kaduna have secured funding, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving public transportation. Meanwhile, Lagos and Ogun States’ metroline projects further strengthen Nigeria’s urban light rail network.

Collectively, these projects are expected to generate more than 250,000 jobs nationwide, directly boosting employment opportunities.

Focus on Human Capital and Social Development

The administration has also revived efforts to rehabilitate the Eastern Corridor rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri. Over 1,000 primary health care centres have been upgraded nationwide, signaling the government’s determination to enhance human capital and social infrastructure.

Regional Distribution of Projects

Data from the government indicates the following allocations:

• Northwest: ₦5.97 trillion (over 40% of total approvals)
• South-South: ₦2.41 trillion
• North-Central: ₦1.13 trillion
• Southeast: ₦407 billion
• Northeast: ₦400 billion
• Southwest (excluding Lagos): ₦604 billion

Legacy Road Projects under Tinubu’s Administration

The federal government listed major road projects currently underway:

• Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway (750 km): 175 km in Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.
• Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway (1,068 km): 378 km progressing in Kebbi and Sokoto.
• Trans-Sahara Highway (465 km): 118 km ongoing in Ebonyi State.
• Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road (439 km): Being redesigned for durability with rigid pavement.

From the total length of these projects, 52% are situated in the North and 48% in the South.
