Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Two-Week Diplomatic Visits to Japan and Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, after embarking on a nearly two-week diplomatic tour of Japan and Brazil. The strategic foreign trips were aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s global partnerships, advancing economic ties, and securing international cooperation in critical sectors.

According to a statement issued by the President’s Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. On arrival, President Tinubu was warmly received by top-ranking government officials and aides who welcomed him back to the country.

LMSINT MEDIA gathered that President Tinubu’s first stop was Tokyo, Japan, where he attended the ninth edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The conference provided a platform for African leaders and Japanese counterparts to discuss trade, investment, and sustainable development across the continent.

Following his engagements in Japan, the President proceeded to Brazil for a state visit aimed at expanding Nigeria-Brazil bilateral relations. During the visit, both nations signed no fewer than five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), focusing on diverse sectors such as energy, agriculture, and security cooperation.

The agreements are expected to boost Nigeria’s access to new technologies, increase agricultural productivity, and enhance collaborative efforts in national and regional security. Analysts believe these accords could significantly improve trade volumes and open new opportunities for Nigeria’s economy.

The presidential aircraft departed from Brasília International Airport Air Force Base at 12:57 p.m. (local time), marking the conclusion of the Brazil leg of the visit. To officially bid farewell to the Nigerian leader, several dignitaries were present, including Brazil’s Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, and the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete.

Also present at the airport were Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, alongside other senior government officials.
