President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday welcomed the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Sa’ad Abubakar III, alongside several prominent religious and traditional leaders, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

During the gathering, President Tinubu reaffirmed that his administration remains dedicated to strengthening the nation’s economy and building a more prosperous country capable of supporting both present citizens and future generations.

According to LMSINT MEDIA, the meeting occurred during an interfaith iftar — the ceremonial breaking of the fast — organised for traditional rulers and religious leaders from across the country.

While addressing the distinguished guests, Tinubu stated that the policies introduced by his government have prevented the country from sliding into financial collapse. He emphasized that although certain economic reforms initially created hardship for many citizens, they were necessary steps toward restoring economic stability and setting the foundation for long-term national development.

The President further explained that with the nation’s economy gradually stabilising and moving toward a firmer footing, the administration is now directing greater attention toward expanding development across key sectors. These areas include agriculture, education, healthcare, and other important socio-economic fields aimed at improving the living standards of Nigerians.

“At least this government has rescued Nigeria from the risk of bankruptcy. Our focus is now shifting toward strengthening sectors such as healthcare, agriculture and education,” Tinubu noted during his remarks.

Also speaking at the event, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, who serves as the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, was represented by the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar.

In his address, the traditional leader highlighted the significance of both major faiths observing fasting periods at the same time, describing the situation as a powerful symbol that should encourage unity, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians regardless of religious or ethnic background.

He further expressed confidence that the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu possesses the ability to address the security challenges affecting several regions across the country. The traditional ruler also pledged continued support and loyalty to the President while emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government authorities and traditional institutions in promoting peace and stability nationwide.

The meeting also served as an opportunity for leaders from different religious and cultural backgrounds to interact, strengthen dialogue, and reinforce a shared commitment toward national unity, development, and mutual respect among the diverse communities within Nigeria.
