President Bola Tinubu welcomed Ghana’s president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. The meeting underscores Nigeria’s strong diplomatic relations with Ghana and celebrates the country’s successful democratic elections.

The visit was announced by Olusegun Dada, the Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to President Tinubu. Sharing images of the meeting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Dada wrote: “The President-Elect of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama, paid a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at his residence, Presidential Villa, State House Yesterday.” First Lady Remi Tinubu also attended the meeting alongside the leaders.

John Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president, secured a decisive victory in the country’s recent elections. His main opponent, incumbent Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, graciously conceded defeat, further solidifying Ghana’s status as a model for democratic governance in Africa.

The election received widespread praise from both local and international observers for its transparency, credibility, and efficiency, reaffirming Ghana’s role as a beacon of democracy on the continent.

President Tinubu’s meeting with Mahama reflects Nigeria’s commitment to fostering regional stability, collaboration, and strong bilateral ties with neighboring nations.
