President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt appreciation to the military forces stationed in Kebbi State for their unwavering efforts in confronting the threat posed by the Lakurawa bandits.

Delivering the message on behalf of the President, the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, spoke with journalists following a private briefing in Birnin Kebbi. He revealed that his visit included a delegation of top-level security operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser aimed at reassessing the region’s current security dynamics.

The Defence Minister also met with senior commanders at the 1 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, located at Dukku Barracks, before proceeding to the Kebbi State Government House for deliberations with Governor Nasir Idris.

Badaru emphasized that President Tinubu’s message was directed not only to the troops but also to Governor Idris, commending them for their crucial role in stabilizing the area and reducing insecurity. Their collaborative operations have contributed significantly to restoring calm and safeguarding lives and property.

He further highlighted that the enhanced peace and order in Kebbi and surrounding regions have enabled local farmers to return to their agricultural activities, leading to better harvest outcomes and increased food production.

Commending Governor Idris for his dedication, Badaru noted, “I witnessed the insecurity in Kebbi before his tenure, and the current atmosphere reflects a significant positive transformation.”
