Thugs stormed the Edo State High Court in Benin City, attempting to interrupt the pre-hearing session of the governorship election tribunal. The session was focused on reviewing the validity of the September 21 election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The attack targeted supporters of seven political parties who had filed petitions against the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The attackers, whose identities remain unknown, struck outside the courtroom, causing chaos and panic among attendees.

In a swift response, security personnel took immediate action to secure the area. They blocked the court’s main entrance and established a roadblock on the route leading to the premises, ensuring the safety of tribunal officials and other individuals present.
