The Nigerian military high command has declared notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji as “a dead man walking” after his recent threats to attack communities in Zamfara State. Turji demanded the release of his brother and other associates detained by the military, but the authorities remain resolute in their counterterrorism efforts.

Over 1,000 Terrorist Leaders Neutralized in 2024

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that between January and December 2024, more than 1,000 terrorist leaders and commanders were neutralized, along with their replacements. According to him, Bello Turji will face the same fate as his predecessors.

“Bello Turji is just another dead man walking,” Buba stated. “Before him, many terrorists made bold threats against our forces. Today, they have all been eliminated. We will continue to target leaders like him with precision and decisiveness.”

The military also disclosed that countless terrorists were buried in the battlefields during their operations. Buba reaffirmed that the military remains committed to wiping out terrorist networks and restoring peace to affected regions.

Countering Propaganda: Military Defends Operations

Addressing those questioning the military’s bombing of the Lakurawa terrorist enclaves, Major General Buba emphasized that propaganda is a common tactic used by terrorists and their collaborators.

“The first casualty of war is always the truth,” he remarked. “It is unsurprising that terrorists or their sympathizers dispute our operations. However, Nigerians should not fall for such propaganda. We successfully targeted their ammunition and logistics hubs during the Christmas Day bombing, which is a major blow to their capabilities.”

Buba reiterated that the military is focused on defending the nation and urged Nigerians to support their efforts rather than entertain false narratives.

Key Takeaways:

  • Terrorist Neutralization: Over 1,000 terrorist leaders and commanders were eliminated in 2024 alone.
