Popular Fuji music icon from Ibadan, Taye Currency, has publicly expressed deep emotional pain and distress after losing a staggering ₦10 million to the now-defunct CBEX digital trading platform.
According to verified reports by LMSINT MEDIA, the Singapore-based digital investment company, CBEX, suddenly shut down operations on Monday, April 14, 2025, logging out thousands of users and rendering them unable to retrieve their investments. The platform reportedly wiped out approximately ₦1.3 trillion of investors’ funds across Nigeria and beyond.
The Fuji star, while performing live over the weekend, took a moment during his set to emotionally disclose his involvement with the crashed scheme. His confession was captured in a viral video currently making rounds on social media platforms.
Speaking in Yoruba, Taye Currency lamented:
“If I don’t speak out, I might end up developing high blood pressure. I can’t bottle it up anymore. On April 1st, Sodiq came to my house to tell me that my band manager, Lateef, had just withdrawn some funds from CBEX. Sodiq also introduced Alaba, who even used ₦1.2 million stolen from our stage performance to invest in CBEX.”
“Brother Muca put in ₦500,000, Lateef ₦1.4 million, and Sodiq himself invested ₦850,000. These four were in charge of my finances. And on that same day, I dropped ₦10 million into CBEX. It all went down the drain. To those of you who brought this to me – it shall never be well with you!”
This revelation marks Taye Currency as the first Nigerian celebrity to publicly confirm being affected by the CBEX crash.
