The recently concluded Local Government Elections in Rivers State have sparked intense controversies, widespread criticism, and diverse reactions from Nigerians, political groups, and opposition parties. According to LMSINT MEDIA, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) went ahead with the election despite strong opposition from notable Nigerians, civil society stakeholders, and constitutional advocates. Many observers argued that the poll not only violated provisions of the Nigerian constitution but also ridiculed the essence of democratic practice in the country. Allegations of Political Manipulation Analysts and citizens, especially from the opposition, described the election as a political strategy designed to hand Rivers State’s political machinery to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and, by extension, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. Critics raised concerns that constitutional requirements were ignored, particularly the mandatory notice stipulated by the Electoral Act, which was sidelined in favor of political expediency. At the conclusion of the contentious process, RSIEC declared that the APC secured victory in 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) while the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to win only three LGAs. The results also showed APC dominance in councillorship elections across 20 LGAs, while PDP candidates were victorious in just three. This development marks the first time since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999 that the APC would dominate Rivers State’s local political structure. Swearing-In of APC Local Government Chairmen Following the announcement, the sole administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd.), formally swore in the newly elected chairmen of all 23 LGAs at the Government House. The event came shortly after they received their certificates of return from RSIEC. Among the declared winners were APC candidates such as Ofori Owolabi (Abua/Odual LGA), Solomon Achoma (Ahoada East), Eugene Cheta (Ahoada West), Bob Fubarab (Akuku Toru), Otua Promise (Andoni), George Onengiyeofori (Asari Toru), Pepple Blessing (Bonny LGA), Michael Williams (Degema), and Obarilomate Ollor (Eleme LGA). Others included Lloyd Julius (Emohua), Njoku Chima (Etche), Confidence Deko (Gokana), Wobodo Charles (Ikwerre), Thomas Bariere (Khana), Dr. Gift Wodo (Obio/Akpor), Akuro Tobin (Okrika), Obasi Uchechukwu (Omuma), James A. James (Opobo/Nkoro), Okechukwu Nwogu (Oyigbo), and Okwe Mbakpone (Tai LGA). The PDP only managed to secure victories through Chukwu Ogbodo (Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni), Vincent Nimieboka (Ogu/Bolo LGA), and Sir Allwell Ihunda (Port Harcourt). Despite reports of widespread boycott, RSIEC claimed that more than two million votes were cast—an unusually high figure, considering it far exceeded the number recorded during the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State. Opposition Voices Strong Criticism Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar openly rejected the election, describing it as a “travesty of democracy.” Writing on X (formerly Twitter), he condemned the process as “an awful absurdity” that undermined Nigeria’s electoral integrity. Atiku further accused the Tinubu-led APC of orchestrating the poll to secure an undue political advantage, noting that the process reflected an “occupation government” willing to disregard due process for power consolidation. Similarly, Jake Epelle, Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa, labeled the exercise a “democratic scam” that was unconstitutional and strategically planned with the 2027 elections in mind. Absence of Governor Fubara and His Loyalists Interestingly, the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, did not participate in the election. His key allies, including Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, Secretary to the Government Tammy Danagogo, and other loyal political figures, also shunned the exercise. Additionally, the 23 former LGA chairmen previously removed by the Supreme Court stayed away from the polls. A political insider revealed to LMSINT MEDIA that the election outcome was part of the earlier reconciliation deal between Wike and Fubara, brokered in the presence of President Tinubu. According to the source, the agreement effectively stripped Fubara of his powers, leaving Wike in full control of the state’s structures. Analysts React to the Implications Political commentators such as Rufai Oseni and Reuben Abati of Arise TV suggested that Governor Fubara had been pressured into surrendering power. They described the election outcome as evidence of Wike’s dominance and Fubara’s weakened position. Darlington Nwauju, Publicity Secretary of the APC faction in Rivers State, argued that political loyalty in Rivers is transactional, with most politicians aligning with whoever controls financial resources. He predicted that Wike’s current control may not be permanent, noting that “patronage-based loyalty often expires.” Meanwhile, Dr. Sani Abubakar, a political analyst, described the elections as lacking credibility, transparency, and fairness. He accused Wike of manipulating the process to cement his dominance in Rivers politics, predicting that Governor Fubara’s eventual return would leave him at the mercy of Wike and his political network. Dr. Abubakar also expressed concern that such manipulations could deepen voter apathy in 2027, as Nigerians lose faith in the credibility of elections. Future Outlook and Wike’s Consolidation of Power Observers believe that President Tinubu may see Wike as a reliable ally who has delivered Rivers State into APC’s hands. While Wike still publicly identifies as a PDP member, many argue that his actions serve APC’s interests, especially as he continues to consolidate his influence ahead of 2027. While some Nigerians hope that the courts will overturn the controversial election results, others doubt the judiciary’s independence, citing previous concerns about corruption and political interference. Nevertheless, Wike has defended the polls, insisting that they were conducted legally and fairly, and has expressed confidence that the courts will uphold the results.
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again raised serious concerns about the deteriorating state of security across Nigeria. In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Obi declared that “Nigeria is bleeding” and urgently called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity. This appeal comes after a bloody weekend of tragic killings. Reports confirmed that eight officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were brutally murdered in Edo State. Similarly, in Borno State, five Nigerian soldiers and at least 58 innocent civilians were killed, leaving the nation in mourning. The former Governor of Anambra State described these incidents as undeniable proof that the country is trapped in a full-scale security crisis. He emphasized that such relentless killings cannot continue without strong and immediate government intervention. While expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, Obi urged the Federal Government to take swift action by arresting the perpetrators and ensuring that justice is served without delay. Obi’s post highlighted the scale of the crisis: “When over 100 Nigerians are killed in a single weekend, our casualty figures rival those of countries officially at war. This is no longer business as usual.” He went further to stress that the government must declare a national war against insecurity. According to him, the solution lies in mobilizing all national resources, agencies, and states while putting aside political distractions to rescue Nigeria from lawlessness and violence. The call by Peter Obi echoes the cries of many Nigerians who believe that insecurity—ranging from banditry to terrorism, kidnappings, and violent attacks—has reached unprecedented levels.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7-8). In these last days, it’s inspiring to see God’s children knowing more about the gifts of the Spirit than ever before. But one area where they’ve constantly made a mistake is in their interpretation of a gift mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12 as the word of knowledge. Incidentally, that’s the only place throughout the Scriptures where it is referred to as the word of knowledge. Every other time the gift was referenced, it was called knowledge, not word of knowledge. What many wrongly call the gift of the word of knowledge is, in fact, the manifestation of the gift of prophecy. You’re not manifesting “knowledge” when you supernaturally know or speak something about somebody or events in his life; that’s prophecy, because prophecy reveals the secrets of men. The Bible says through prophecy, the secrets of a man’s heart are revealed (1 Corinthians 14:24-25). The gift of knowledge refers to the manifestation of spiritual knowledge of divine things which includes the cosmos. The word “knowledge” in our opening verse is from the Greek, “Gnosis,” which means scientific knowledge—knowledge that’s based on intellectual activity. This knowledge can be supernaturally imparted to you by the Spirit of God through this gift. Think about it: God made the plants and the animals; He made the metals and everything there is in the world. He can teach you about them. He can give you supernatural knowledge in artificial intelligence, robotics, law, or medicine. The world is looking for solutions, and we’re the ones to provide them. Christ, the embodiment of all wisdom and knowledge, lives in you. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge, lives in you; He teaches you all things and can supernaturally impart knowledge about anything to your spirit. Become more conscious of the ministry of the Spirit in your life. Be mindful of His power, presence, and His ability to impart solutions to your spirit that’ll change the world. PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of knowledge, who dwells in me and teaches me all things so that I can deal wisely in all affairs of life. Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has provided insights into why the Turkish Super Lig giants failed to secure the services of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta during the recent summer transfer window. According to Buruk, Galatasaray made serious attempts to bring in the Nigerian international but were left disappointed after Atalanta firmly rejected the possibility of letting him leave on loan. In his words, Buruk admitted that the club was very keen and even excited about the prospect of signing Lookman, especially after the successful rise of African strikers in Europe. He stated: “We were genuinely interested in Ademola Lookman. The club was excited, and we wondered if a move similar to Victor Osimhen’s case was about to happen. But Atalanta made it clear that they would not release him on loan,” Buruk said, as quoted by Turkish football journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu. Lookman’s Transfer Situation The Nigerian winger had reportedly expressed his desire to leave Atalanta and even went as far as submitting an official transfer request. Despite his determination to seek a move away, the Serie A side stood firm on their decision. Notably, top European clubs such as Inter Milan and Bayern Munich were also interested in acquiring Lookman’s signature, but Atalanta rejected all offers. The Italian club’s management maintained that the 26-year-old remained a crucial part of their squad. In line with this, Lookman was officially included in Atalanta’s Champions League squad list, signaling their firm intention to keep him beyond the summer transfer speculation. Why Atalanta Refused Atalanta’s decision not to part ways with Lookman was strategic. After his impressive performances in the 2022/2023 season—where he scored key goals both in Serie A and in European competitions—club officials believed he was too valuable to lose. This stance mirrors a broader trend in European football where clubs are increasingly reluctant to release top players without significant transfer fees. Atalanta’s refusal shows their determination to compete strongly in domestic and continental competitions this season. The Bigger Picture for Galatasaray For Galatasaray, missing out on Lookman is a setback. The club is actively strengthening its squad to dominate the Turkish Super Lig and make an impact in European tournaments. Buruk’s remarks suggest that Galatasaray saw Lookman as an ideal addition who could replicate the success stories of other Nigerian forwards excelling in Europe. However, the failure to secure him means Galatasaray will now have to look elsewhere in their search for attacking reinforcements. Fans of the Turkish side are still hopeful that future windows may present another opportunity to sign the Nigerian star if Atalanta decides to negotiate.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has strongly denied media reports suggesting he intends to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Ganduje, who resigned from his position as APC National Chairman on June 27, 2024, citing health concerns, described the speculation as nothing more than fake news aimed at distracting loyal party members and creating unnecessary political tension. The former Kano State governor assumed the role of APC National Chairman on August 3, 2023, following an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). His resignation, however, sparked rumors that he and some of his supporters were considering moving to the ADC, a claim he has now officially dismissed. In a statement released on Saturday, Ganduje’s spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, clarified that the APC stalwart remains firmly committed to both the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “Dr. Ganduje is a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress. He is not only a loyal party man but also a strong supporter of President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope vision. The speculation about him leaving APC is baseless and should be disregarded,” Olofu stated. Olofu further emphasized that Ganduje has no intention of abandoning the ruling party at such a critical time. He urged party members and Nigerians to focus on supporting the government’s reform programs instead of spreading false stories. The clarification comes amid heightened political debates ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ganduje’s stance reinforces the APC’s unity and underlines the ruling party’s determination to consolidate its leadership across Nigeria.
Former House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has officially confirmed his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), only hours after the Kwankwasiyya faction loyal to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso announced his expulsion. In a personally signed statement released on Saturday, Kofa admitted that his dismissal came as a “rude shock”. However, he emphasized that he had accepted the decision with maturity and no resentment, urging the party leadership to allow him to depart in peace without unnecessary controversy. “Although I would have loved to remain in the NNPP and continue to serve my people and Nigeria despite certain disagreements, the party has spoken. I must therefore accept the outcome in good faith and without bitterness. I only plead with the party to permit me to go in peace,” Kofa said. Kofa Defends Himself Over TV Interview The lawmaker, who represented Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, defended his statements during a recent television interview that was cited as the reason for his expulsion. He insisted that his remarks did not amount to anti-party activity. “I strongly believe the views I expressed in the interview I granted days ago did not warrant such a severe punishment. My statements align with the fundamental principles of the NNPP, which encourage healthy debate and freedom of expression. For clarity, I stand firmly by every word I said,” he explained. No Fair Hearing Before Expulsion Kofa criticized the process through which he was removed, alleging that he was denied the opportunity to defend himself. “No invitation or hearing was extended to me by any organ of the party, completely ignoring the principle of justice, due process, and fairness that the NNPP itself often advocates,” he lamented. Denies Non-Payment of Party Dues On accusations that he defaulted on his financial obligations to the party, Kofa rejected the claim, clarifying that he was willing to clear any outstanding dues. “I respectfully ask the party to issue me an invoice, and I will immediately settle whatever remains unpaid. Such issues do not require court action,” he stressed. Call for Civility and Next Political Move Despite the fallout, Kofa appreciated the support he had received during his time in the NNPP, while calling on members to maintain civility as they part ways. “I appeal to NNPP leaders and members to uphold decorum and avoid personal attacks as we disengage. For me, relationships will endure regardless of political affiliations,” he added. Kofa, who once served as Director-General of the Tinubu Support Groups before joining the NNPP in 2022, revealed that he would carefully consult with his supporters before making his next political decision. “I will evaluate all available options before announcing my next political platform. So help me God,” he concluded.
The tragic death of Deborah Moses Okwori, popularly known as Deb’rah Porsche, has once again thrown Nigeria into mourning and reignited conversations about the alarming rise of relationship-related femicides across the country. Deborah, a 23-year-old interior designer with a promising future, was allegedly murdered in Lagos by her ex-boyfriend, Lintex Ogale. Her killing has left many shocked and devastated, symbolizing yet another case where women’s trust in their partners was brutally betrayed. According to LMSINT MEDIA, Deborah’s murder is not an isolated case. Instead, it is part of a long and disturbing trend of women killed in intimate relationships spanning over a decade in Nigeria. A Disturbing Pattern of Violence Across states such as Abuja, Lagos, Benue, and Nasarawa, countless cases have been reported where women never made it out alive from toxic or abusive relationships. A report jointly released by UN Women and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) revealed a chilling global reality: 140 women and girls are killed daily by an intimate partner or close family member — that is one woman every 10 minutes. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for stronger interventions in Nigeria and beyond. The report was released on the 25th anniversary of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, highlighting that femicide is not just an African issue but a worldwide crisis requiring immediate action. Timeline of Tragic Relationship-Related Murders in Nigeria Calls for Justice and Urgent Action Speaking on the rising cases of relationship-related killings, human rights lawyer Barr. Enewa Grace Adanu condemned the trend, labeling it as gender-targeted violence rather than isolated crimes. “Women are not possessions men can discard when relationships end. Nigeria must treat these killings as femicides. Stronger legislation, swifter prosecution, and dedicated courts for gender-based violence are urgently required,” Adanu emphasized. Human rights activist Meddy Olotu, who first broke the news of Deborah’s murder, urged women to prioritize their safety above societal pressures. “No relationship is worth dying for. Abuse and threats are not love; they are warning signs that must never be ignored,” he stressed. Meanwhile, Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women, stated that Deborah’s death is a grim reminder of the dangers of silence. “Violence against women and girls is preventable. What we need is robust legislation, increased accountability, and stronger funding for women’s rights groups. World leaders must unite to end femicide once and for all,” Bahous said. Conclusion The tragic story of Deb’rah Porsche adds to a devastating list of women whose lives were stolen in the hands of people they once trusted. Nigeria is at a crossroads: either strengthen its legal and social systems to protect women or continue watching innocent lives being lost to relationship-related violence.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen (2 Peter 3:18). Have you ever pondered why, as a younger Christian, it seemed your prayers received quicker answers compared to now that you’ve grown in your walk with the Lord? Maybe you even prayed incorrectly, and yet God always answered you. Yes, He answered you because you were a spiritual infant. God answers such prayers, not because they’re right, but because He’s giving the babes some space to grow. After a while, what used to work for them at that level won’t work anymore because they have to stop feeding on milk: “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe” (Hebrews 5:13). As you grow in Christ, God starts taking you more seriously. The things you say and do—the words you speak, the words you hear, how you reason, what you think about the Scriptures, how you pray and the content of your prayers, etc.—will begin to matter. You discover we don’t pray to Jesus in the Name of Jesus; rather, we pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. We also don’t “come to Him” every time we pray. The day you gave your heart to Christ to be born again, was the day you came to Him. The sinner can say, “Oh Lord, I come to you in the Name of Jesus” because he was out. But you are in Him; you live in Him. To a young or carnal Christian, these things may not mean much, but they bear great spiritual significance. The Bible says, “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14). When you grow up and start applying the Scriptures rightly, you’ll discover that you’ll no longer experience ups and downs in life. Your life will be from faith to faith, grace to grace, and glory to glory. Hallelujah! PRAYERDear Father, thank you for your Word, which is my life and the light by which I see. I’m yielded to its power to transform and build me up in every area, delivering to me my inheritance in Christ. Your glory is revealed in my life, constantly transfiguring and renewing me more and more in knowledge into your image, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. I enjoy divine health every day, all year round. I do not wane with age; rather, my strength is renewed daily like the eagle’s. I have entered into the zone of agelessness, deathlessness, and wantlessness. God’s divine nature takes absolute preeminence over my spirit, soul, and body. I refuse to let any contrary condition take root in me or affect anything that concerns me. I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency, and His superabundant grace upon my life is enough for me in all things. Grace—the lifting power of God that attracts the right people, materials, and resources—has put me ahead and positioned me for success and victory.
