Rivers State Governor Fubara Urged to Prioritize Governance Over Detractors – Ikubese

Former presidential aspirant and Convener of the YesWeFit Revolutionary Movement, Dr. Thomas-Wilson Ikubese, has appealed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to avoid distractions from political detractors and praise-singers and instead place his focus on good governance for the benefit of the people. Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Friday, Ikubese stressed that leadership requires firmness and accountability. He advised Governor Fubara to resist the temptation of being influenced by political sycophants or critics whose intentions may not align with the progress of the state. Ikubese further appealed to former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to refrain from interfering unnecessarily in the affairs of Rivers State. He emphasized that such interference could destabilize governance, urging Wike to allow peace and stability to prevail for the collective interest of the people. The activist also raised concerns about the actions of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), who administered Rivers State as sole administrator during a six-month emergency rule. According to him, the administrator failed to provide a proper handover to Governor Fubara after his tenure. Quoting his words: “It is indeed surprising that Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd) exited his role after six months of managing the resources of Rivers State without presenting a formal handover to Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Transparency demands that he publishes a detailed account of his activities during that emergency period for public record and accountability.” Ikubese reminded Nigerians that while Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) provides for the declaration of a state of emergency, it does not give the president powers to suspend democratic structures in any state. He therefore urged the judiciary to deliver timely judgments on the various suits already filed by concerned stakeholders, including the ongoing case instituted by seven PDP governors, stressing that such rulings are crucial to safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy. Ikubese concluded by reaffirming that only a transparent, accountable, and people-centered governance system will ensure peace and sustainable development in Rivers State.

Rivers Crisis: APC Chieftain Urges Fubara to Dismiss Ibas’s Appointees and Secure Tinubu’s Support Against Impeachment

A senior figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has openly called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to immediately dismiss all political appointees installed by the recently departed Sole Administrators during the governor’s six-month suspension. Governor Fubara officially returned to the Rivers State Government House on Friday, marking the end of his six-month suspension, which was ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Despite widespread criticism and strong disapproval from citizens, political stakeholders, and civil rights groups, the suspension remained in force until its conclusion, with the governor resuming duties the very next day after the Sole Administrator vacated office. During the governor’s absence, former Naval Chief Ibok-Ette Ibas, who served as the Sole Administrator, appointed several individuals into key offices within the Rivers State Government. Chief Eze, a respected political voice and former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), strongly argued that Governor Fubara must not retain or work with any of those appointees. Eze emphasized that it would be politically dangerous for the governor to inherit appointees from what he described as an “illegal administration.” According to him, Governor Fubara must dismiss all individuals appointed by the Sole Administrator to safeguard his leadership integrity and prevent political manipulation. The APC chieftain went further, warning against any attempt by political stakeholders, particularly former Rivers State governor and current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to impose commissioners, advisers, or aides on Fubara’s administration. Eze claimed that Wike had earlier promised not to engage in such “devilish acts,” but the governor must remain cautious and proactive to prevent undue interference. Eze also stressed that, in order to restore stability in the Rivers political space, all lawmakers in the State Assembly who resigned or previously worked with Governor Fubara should be reinstated to their legislative positions. Such action, he noted, would help calm political tensions and create a more harmonious working environment in the state. The APC leader further appealed to President Bola Tinubu to provide firm reassurance to Governor Fubara, ensuring that the governor will be fully protected against any form of political sabotage or humiliation. In his words, the governor must be shielded from possible impeachment plots orchestrated by certain “funny members” of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Eze concluded by stating that, should the president fail to offer this crucial assurance, Governor Fubara has no option but to fully exercise his constitutional powers as the executive leader of Rivers State in order to defend his position and authority. This political development marks another chapter in Rivers State’s turbulent governance crisis, highlighting ongoing power struggles among prominent figures and the importance of executive independence within Nigeria’s democratic framework.

The Commission added that once the investigation process is finalized, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law. This recent operation highlights the EFCC’s renewed efforts to clamp down on cybercrime, popularly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo,” which has become a growing concern across Nigeria. The EFCC has also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities that may be linked to internet fraud.

Trump Increases H-1B Visa Fee to $100,000 in New Immigration Crackdown

US President Donald Trump has announced a dramatic rise in the cost of the H-1B visa, a program widely used by high-tech professionals, particularly from India. According to a senior US official, the visa fee will now be set at $100,000, a sharp increase from the current charge of less than $1,000. This development is part of Trump’s broader immigration clampdown, a policy stance he intensified upon returning to the White House. While his administration had already focused heavily on restricting immigration in general, this marks the first direct move against the H-1B program, a system Silicon Valley companies have depended on for decades. Details of the New H-1B Visa Fee Hike The confirmation of the new cost was first highlighted by Bloomberg News, later backed by a US government official. The H-1B visa program, which has long been a bridge for skilled technology professionals to work in the United States, will now become significantly costlier for employers. Trump’s administration has stated that the purpose of this drastic fee increase is to protect American workers from wage suppression. By raising the entry barrier for foreign talent, the government aims to discourage companies from relying on international labor at the expense of domestic professionals. Background of the H-1B Visa Program The United States issues 85,000 H-1B visas annually under a lottery-based system. Indian workers account for nearly three-quarters of these slots, making India the single largest beneficiary of the program. Many of these professionals either relocate permanently to the US or frequently travel between the two countries to serve multinational technology firms. This system has been central to the growth of companies in Silicon Valley and other innovation hubs across the country. Employers often prefer skilled Indian developers, engineers, and IT professionals due to their expertise and availability. Concerns from the Tech Industry The sharp increase in H-1B costs has raised alarm within the technology industry. Prominent voices, including tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, once considered an ally of Trump, have openly criticized the move. Musk and other leaders argue that the United States does not have enough domestic tech specialists to fill the large number of positions available in the sector. If companies cannot access affordable foreign talent, industry experts warn, the American technology sector could face severe challenges in meeting demand, driving up labor costs and potentially pushing some companies to move jobs overseas.

EPL: Guardiola Tells Arteta Winning Premier League Is Due to Heavy Spending

Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, has made a bold statement about Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s chances of lifting the English Premier League (EPL) trophy. According to Guardiola, Arteta’s success—if Arsenal eventually clinches the league title—will be largely because of the club’s massive spending in the transfer market rather than tactical brilliance or hard work alone. The City manager shared this opinion while addressing journalists ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this weekend. Guardiola drew attention to what he sees as an imbalance in how different clubs are judged for their transfer spending. He insisted that Arsenal, unlike Manchester City, face less criticism over their financial outlays. In the last summer transfer window, Arsenal spent approximately £300 million to strengthen their squad. This amount pushed the club’s total spending since the summer of 2021 to over £900 million. Surprisingly, this figure now slightly surpasses Manchester City’s expenditure over the same period. Guardiola, speaking in a rather sarcastic tone, addressed Arteta directly: “I want to tell my friend Mikel Arteta, if he eventually secures the Premier League title, it will be because he spent a lot of money on players—not because of his hard work or the efforts of his squad.” He went on to make similar remarks about other rival clubs, saying: “It’s like Liverpool. If Arne Slot wins the league again, people will say it’s because he spent big. This narrative doesn’t only apply to Manchester City; it’s the same story for everyone at the top level.” Guardiola’s comments add another twist to the growing tension between top Premier League clubs over financial spending, squad building, and fairness in football. With Arsenal and Liverpool both investing heavily in new talent, the debate on whether money or managerial skill wins titles continues to spark controversy among fans and analysts. The “Revenge Bedtime Procrastination” Epidemic: How Screen Addiction Is Destroying Sleep

Have you ever stayed up late at night scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube even though you were already tired? If yes, you’ve probably experienced “Revenge Bedtime Procrastination”—a modern sleep epidemic caused by screen addiction and the urge to reclaim lost personal time. While it may feel harmless in the moment, this habit is quietly destroying sleep quality, mental health, and productivity. In this post, we’ll explore what revenge bedtime procrastination really is, why screen addiction fuels it, and practical solutions to break free before it sabotages your health and daily life. What Is Revenge Bedtime Procrastination? The term “Revenge Bedtime Procrastination” was popularized in China with the phrase “bàofùxìng áoyè,” meaning “retaliatory staying up late.” It describes the tendency of people—especially students, professionals, and parents—to delay sleep intentionally so they can enjoy leisure time they missed during the day. Unlike traditional procrastination, it’s not about avoiding work—it’s about taking revenge on your busy schedule by sacrificing sleep for freedom. How Screen Addiction Fuels Bedtime Procrastination Screens have become the perfect partner in crime for this epidemic. Here’s why: 1. Endless Content Traps the Brain Social media apps, Netflix, and YouTube are built on algorithms designed to keep you hooked. According to Harvard Medical School, the blue light from screens suppresses melatonin, the sleep hormone, making it even harder to feel sleepy. 2. Dopamine Loops Create Addiction Every notification, scroll, or like releases a small hit of dopamine. Over time, the brain craves more of these micro-rewards, making late-night scrolling irresistible. 3. The Illusion of ‘Me Time’ People convince themselves that sacrificing sleep is worth it because it’s the only time they feel free. But this “me time” ends up stealing energy from the next day, creating a vicious cycle of fatigue and stress. The Hidden Dangers of Revenge Bedtime Procrastination Sacrificing sleep for screen time may feel harmless, but the long-term consequences are alarming: How to Break Free from the Cycle Overcoming revenge bedtime procrastination requires both discipline and practical strategies. Here are proven steps: 1. Set a Digital Curfew Decide on a “no-screen” rule at least one hour before bedtime. Use that time for calming activities such as journaling, meditation, or light reading. 2. Use Blue Light Filters If you must use devices at night, activate Night Shift mode or install blue light filter apps to minimize melatonin suppression. 3. Redefine ‘Me Time’ Instead of pushing leisure into the late night, schedule small breaks during the day to enjoy hobbies, walks, or socializing without guilt. 4. Create a Sleep-Inducing Environment Keep your bedroom dark, cool, and distraction-free. Replace late-night scrolling with a consistent wind-down routine. 5. Accountability Helps Sometimes it takes an external push. Share your goals with a friend or use apps that remind you to log off at night. Why This Epidemic Matters Now More Than Ever The rise of remote work, digital entertainment, and social media addiction has made revenge bedtime procrastination more widespread than ever. Millions are silently battling fatigue because they’re trapped between work demands and the temptation of digital escape. Breaking this cycle isn’t just about getting more sleep—it’s about reclaiming your health, productivity, and well-being.

The Fear of Being “Unplugged”: Why Some People Experience Anxiety When Offline

In today’s hyper-connected world, staying online has become more than just a convenience—it’s a lifeline to work, relationships, and information. Yet, for many people, the mere thought of being “unplugged” or offline sparks feelings of unease, restlessness, and even panic. This growing digital-era phenomenon is widely referred to as offline anxiety, and it reveals how deeply technology is woven into our psychological and emotional lives. Understanding Offline Anxiety: What Does It Mean? Offline anxiety describes the fear or nervousness that arises when a person loses internet connection or intentionally disconnects from their devices. Unlike traditional phobias, this type of anxiety is rooted in modern dependency on technology. For some, being offline triggers thoughts like: Research published by the American Psychological Association APA shows that the constant flow of digital notifications and information overload rewires the brain to crave immediate updates, making it difficult to unplug without discomfort. Why Do People Fear Being Unplugged? The fear of disconnection is driven by several psychological and social factors: 1. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) FOMO is one of the strongest drivers of offline anxiety. Social media platforms amplify the feeling that if you’re not constantly connected, you might miss out on news, events, or opportunities. 2. Digital Dependency for Productivity From remote work to online classes, the internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Being offline can feel like losing access to the tools that define one’s professional or academic identity. This dependency fosters a subconscious belief that productivity is tied to constant connectivity. 3. Loss of Social Validation Notifications, likes, and comments serve as digital dopamine triggers. Psychologists note that when these are cut off, individuals may feel invisible or excluded, leading to heightened anxiety. 4. Information Withdrawal The internet functions as an external brain—a place where answers are instantly available. When unplugged, some people experience withdrawal-like symptoms because they feel cut off from knowledge and updates. 5. Security and Control Concerns Some individuals associate offline states with being vulnerable. What if there’s an emergency and they can’t reach anyone? This sense of insecurity fuels the fear of disconnection. The Psychological Impact of Constant Connectivity While being online keeps us informed and engaged, it also has unintended consequences. Studies from Harvard Business Review highlight that prolonged digital attachment increases stress, reduces focus, and even disturbs sleep cycles. Ironically, the very tool we depend on for security and connection may undermine our mental well-being. How to Manage Offline Anxiety If you often feel restless when disconnected, you’re not alone. Here are effective strategies to ease offline anxiety: Why This Conversation Matters In a society where being online is equated with being alive and relevant, the fear of being unplugged reveals the depth of digital dependency. Recognizing this pattern is the first step toward reclaiming balance. As digital tools evolve, cultivating the ability to step away without panic will be essential for healthier living.

Obasanjo Dismisses Third Term Allegations: “No Nigerian Can Prove It”

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has firmly dismissed persistent claims that he sought a third term in office, declaring that no citizen can provide evidence to back such allegations. Obasanjo made this statement on Wednesday during the Democracy Dialogue organized by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation in Accra, Ghana. The former president emphasized his stance clearly: “I think I’m not a fool. If I wanted it, some people believed I wanted it, I know the steps to take. But there is no Nigerian, whether living or dead, that can say I personally approached him or her to say I wanted a third term. None.” He further explained that if he could secure Nigeria’s debt relief during his administration—an achievement he described as far more complex than extending a presidential term—then obtaining a third term would not have been impossible if he had truly pursued it. Obasanjo noted: “I always remind them that achieving debt relief was much tougher than extending tenure. If I had wanted a third term badly, I would have gotten it.” On Leadership and Power Addiction The former president also issued a strong caution to political leaders who assume they are indispensable. He described such a mindset as “a sin against God.” According to him, effective leadership emerges from individuals who are young, vibrant, and dynamic, not from those who cling to power despite declining capacity. He stated: “The best leadership is delivered when you are young, idealistic, vibrant, and dynamic. Once you become tired and weak, you cannot give your best. Unfortunately, some believe nobody else can lead in their absence. They even claim there is no capable successor. But this is a sin against God because if God decides to take you away today, another person will surely step in—and that person may do better or worse, but leadership will continue.” Obasanjo’s remarks highlight both his rejection of the third-term narrative and his call for generational renewal in leadership, reinforcing the importance of succession planning and democratic responsibility in Nigeria and across Africa.

Rhapsody of Realities September 19th 2025, THE POWER OF REVELATION KNOWLEDGE

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (Ephesians 1:17). There’re several verses of scripture in the Old and New Testaments that underscore the importance of knowledge: revelation knowledge. For example, Proverbs 11:9 says, “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” 2 Peter 1:2-3 says, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM that hath called us to glory and virtue.” Revelation knowledge of God’s Word is required for the victorious Christian life. It’s not enough to know the Word; you must have it revealed to your spirit by the Holy Spirit. The Word must move from information to illumination. That’s what propels you into a higher realm of victory and dominion. The Apostle Paul prayed that the Church in Ephesus would be granted “the spirit of wisdom and revelation.” Because until your spirit is illumined by the Holy Spirit to “see” what God has made available to you, you can’t walk in the reality of it. What you don’t know, you can’t claim. What you haven’t seen with the eyes of your spirit, you can’t enjoy. The full blessings of the Gospel are yours now, but they must become real to you through revelation. Only then can they manifest in your life. You must personalize the Scriptures. Don’t read the Word like a history book. Read it as a living document written about you. The Word of God is God’s mirror that reveals your real identity, personality, authority and glory in Christ Jesus. The Epistles are the album of the new creation. Study them and ask the Holy Spirit for insight and illumination, and to unveil the realities therein to your heart. When that happens, they become part of your consciousness. Faith works by revelation. When your spirit takes a hold of God’s truth, you speak it with boldness and act with confidence. The results would be testimonies, victories, unending joy and peace with prosperity. Therefore, don’t live by head knowledge. Live by revelation knowledge. This knowledge comes from meditating on the Word and spending time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Every so often, declare that you’re filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Hallelujah! PRAYERDear Father, I thank you for giving me the spirit of wisdom and revelation so I can know and relate with you and walk in the reality of my identity, authority, dominion, victory and righteousness in Christ Jesus. Thank you for enlightening the eyes of my understanding to live in the reality of your Word and experience supernatural results, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. UCL: Anthony Gordon Admits Barcelona Gave Newcastle a Football Lesson in Champions League Clash

Newcastle United forward, Anthony Gordon, has openly confessed that facing FC Barcelona in the Champions League was a completely new experience for him, unlike anything he had ever encountered on the pitch. The English international, who has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers this season, acknowledged that the Spanish giants were on a level far above top Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. His comments came after Newcastle’s tough 2-1 defeat to Barcelona at St. James’ Park on Thursday night, a result that once again highlighted the Catalan club’s strength in European football. The game saw on-loan Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford produce a stunning performance, scoring twice for Barcelona to seal all three points. Despite Gordon pulling one back for Newcastle with a late 90th-minute goal, the Magpies could not find an equalizer before the final whistle. Speaking to BeIN Sports after the match, Gordon described Barcelona’s tactical brilliance as a “learning experience.” He praised their ability to maintain possession and dominate midfield play, something he admitted Newcastle rarely faces in the Premier League. “The way Barcelona kept the ball was unbelievable. It was truly a learning experience,” Gordon said. “We don’t face that kind of possession football in England, at least not at that intensity. Honestly, they are the best team I’ve played against in that area of the game. The way their midfield moved and combined with such fluidity made it extremely difficult for us to press effectively.” Gordon further emphasized that even though Newcastle has battled with elite English clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, Barcelona’s tactical approach stood apart. “Their passing, the fluidity of their midfield, and their ability to find space constantly caused us problems. We pride ourselves on pressing with intensity and being physical, but they handled it brilliantly,” he added. This defeat leaves Newcastle reflecting on the gap between English sides and European football elites, as Barcelona once again showed why they are considered one of the best clubs in world football.
