Senator Bamidele’s Easter Message Encourages Nigerian Leaders to Embrace Unity and Reject Divisive Politics

Senator Bamidele’s Easter Message Encourages Nigerian Leaders to Embrace Unity and Reject Divisive Politics Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central, has shared a heartfelt Easter message with Nigerians and Christians globally, encouraging national leaders to forgo divisive rhetoric and prioritize unity and peace-building. Addressing the symbolic essence of Easter—the resurrection of Jesus Christ—Senator Bamidele emphasized the need for national reflection on the principles Christ exemplified: love, sacrifice, justice, and compassion for all humanity. “As we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we must reflect on His values and embody His purposeful life, marked by justice, love, and selflessness,” the senator stated. He underscored the need for collective harmony, noting that Nigeria’s development depends on cooperation among its diverse population, not division or antagonism. Bamidele criticized the recent tragic events in Benue and Plateau States, calling them stark contradictions of the teachings of Christ, especially the values of peace and compassion. He further expressed concern over the rise in provocative statements by political and sectional actors, which, according to him, only widen societal fractures and delay national progress. “True development will not arise from rivalry between regions or groups. We must act as allies, not adversaries,” he emphasized. Legislative Steps Toward National Security The senator revealed that the National Assembly is actively working on legal frameworks to enable the creation of state police forces—a decisive step aimed at addressing Nigeria’s persistent insecurity challenges. He called on security operatives to collaborate across agencies to apprehend those behind terror attacks, stressing that only a unified response can guarantee national safety. A Call for National Rebirth Senator Bamidele warned political figures who exploit the country’s instability for self-serving political agendas. He urged them to emulate Christ’s example of sacrifice and righteousness, rather than sow seeds of discord. “Our nation is a shared endeavor. We must all commit to its growth and healing,” Bamidele said. He reiterated the commitment of the 10th National Assembly to fostering peace and prosperity through meaningful legislative reforms aimed at building a vibrant, inclusive federation. Rhapsody of Realities April 20th 2025, REVERENT USE OF HIS NAME

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD No using the name of GOD, your God, in curses or silly banter; GOD won’t put up with the irreverant use of his name (Exodus 20:7 MSG). In the Old Testament, the Jews were instructed not to take the name of the Lord in vain. For example, Exodus 20:7 says, “…the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” The Jews understood the greatness of God’s Name to such an extent that they avoided pronouncing it altogether. Instead, they substituted it with “Adonai.” When scribes copying the Scriptures encountered the Name, they would pause, go wash themselves, and then proceed to write it. If the Name appeared multiple times, they would repeat the process for each instance. This level of reverence came from an awareness of God’s greatness and majesty and the awe-inspiring deeds He wrought amongst their forefathers. Contrast this with how casually many Christians use His Name today. People shout His Name while cutting a cake or use it as an exclamation in everyday speech without understanding its power or significance. This casual attitude toward the Name of Jesus reveals a deeper issue: a lack of knowledge of who He truly is. When Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, He said, “Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews” (John 4:22). The Samaritans, being a mixed race with a history of idolatry, lacked a proper understanding of worship and reverence. Sadly, this lack of understanding persists today. You must understand and live in the reality of the Lordship of Jesus. He’s not just great; He is greatness. Have this understanding when you worship Him. Address Him correctly. After His resurrection, no one ever directly addressed Him simply as “Jesus.” He was addressed as Lord, Lord Jesus, because His resurrection exalted Him to the place of supreme authority. When speaking about Him, we may say “Jesus,” but when addressing Him, we must honour Him as Lord: “…who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:15-16) PRAYERDear Lord Jesus, I honour and reverence your holy Name, for you’re the Undisputed Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, and lives in unapproachable light. Thank you, Lord, for the privilege to know you and walk in the light of your Word. Your Name is exalted above all, and I recognize you as Lord of all. Amen. More NNPP Defections Rock Kano as Kwankwasiyya Leaders Align with APC

The political atmosphere in Kano State continues to evolve as two influential factions of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya Movement have shifted their allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This major political move underscores the growing strength of APC in Northern Nigeria. Among the notable figures who defected were Hon Ahmad Yusuf Maidoki, a leading voice among Kwankwasiyya Scholars, and Hon Faruq Abdulrazak Musa, a former NNPP chairmanship hopeful for Tudun Wada Local Government Area. The announcement came during a high-profile courtesy visit to Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, at his Abuja residence on Friday. The event was marked by the symbolic removal of the red caps—emblems of the Kwankwasiyya identity—signaling a complete break from the movement’s ideology and a public endorsement of APC’s agenda. Why They Left the NNPP According to Senator Barau, the defectors commended the APC for its development-driven policies and inclusive political culture. “They abandoned the red cap, symbolizing the Kwankwasiyya Movement, to join a party that genuinely cares about the growth of our people and our state,” he said. Barau emphasized that the ongoing wave of defections reflects confidence in the APC’s governance, citing the party’s people-centered legislation and infrastructure projects as key attractors. “The APC welcomes everyone. New members will enjoy the same rights and opportunities as existing members,” he reassured. The Deputy Senate President further stated that while the NNPP previously enjoyed significant political presence in Kano, its influence has dwindled, especially outside the Kano Central Senatorial District. He highlighted that the Kano North zone has almost no NNPP representation and that more leaders in Kano South are on the verge of joining APC. What This Means for Kano Politics This defection is part of a broader political trend in Kano, where grassroots mobilization and youth engagement have increasingly favored the APC. The party continues to consolidate power by attracting prominent personalities from opposition groups. With Kano being one of the most politically active states in Nigeria, these realignments are likely to have substantial implications ahead of the next general elections. Kashim Shettima Advocates Peace and Political Unity in Kano Amid Rising Tensions

In a heartfelt appeal to Kano’s political leaders, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has stressed the urgent need for unity, urging all factions in the state to put aside political hostilities for the greater good. Shettima shared this message on Saturday evening during a condolence visit to the Emir of Kano’s palace, following the passing of the late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi. Addressing an assembly that included Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, APC State Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, and representatives from both the Kwankwasiyya and Gandujiyya political camps, Shettima underlined that discord in Kano could send negative ripples throughout the North. “A state like Kano, known for its political influence and cultural depth, should never be a ground for political friction,” he remarked, encouraging reconciliation between opposing parties. The Vice President warned that continued disunity in Kano State—a region he described as the “heartbeat of Northern Nigeria“—could lead to broader instability across the geopolitical zone. “When Kano sneezes, the North catches cold,” he said, underscoring the state’s significant political and economic clout. To foster a more personal connection, Shettima chose to speak in Hausa, despite not being a native speaker, to ensure his words resonated clearly with local listeners. “I may not be fluent, but I spoke in Hausa so that the people of Kano can fully understand my sincerity,” he added. Alongside his political message, Shettima also prayed for the soul of the late Galadiman Kano, hoping for divine mercy and eternal rest for the revered traditional leader. The Vice President also acknowledged the recent tragedy in Shanono Local Government Area, where suspected bandits claimed lives and abducted several residents. He extended his condolences to the affected families and prayed for an end to insecurity across the nation. “We pray for lasting peace not only in Kano but throughout Nigeria,” he concluded. Antony Reflects on Manchester United’s Challenges, Praises Amorim Amid Real Betis Success

Brazilian winger Antony has publicly acknowledged the current turbulent phase at Manchester United under manager Ruben Amorim, expressing both respect and support for the Portuguese tactician. While speaking with ESPN, Antony emphasized that his time with Amorim was brief but impactful. He highlighted the coach’s intelligence and leadership qualities, wishing him success despite the challenges faced at Old Trafford. “Although I only worked with Amorim for a short time, I saw firsthand that he’s an intelligent and capable coach,” said Antony. “Manchester United are facing a tough period, but I believe he can navigate through it. I had a positive relationship with him, but I needed a new experience. I genuinely wish him all the best.” Antony, who joined Manchester United from Ajax in a high-profile £85 million transfer in 2022, struggled to consistently feature in Amorim’s squad. His lack of form led to a loan move to La Liga side Real Betis, where he’s currently enjoying a strong run of performances. According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old has found new life at Betis, tallying four goals and four assists in just 12 appearances this season. The club captain Isco even joked recently that Betis may need to organize a crowdfunding campaign to sign Antony permanently from United. This resurgence in Spain has led many fans and pundits to believe Antony could either reignite his Premier League career or secure a long-term stay in La Liga. 2027 Presidency: Nigerians Should Support Tinubu’s Full Eight-Year Term – Gov. Sule Appeals for Patience

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to Nigerians, especially the Northern region, to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and support his second term bid in 2027. While speaking during the 2025 Nzeh Mada Festival held in Akwanga Local Government Area, the governor emphasized the importance of upholding regional commitments and ensuring political continuity. Governor Sule reiterated that regardless of differing opinions about Tinubu’s leadership style, the former Lagos State governor deserves the chance to complete his constitutionally-allowed eight years in office. “We committed to zoning. After the North led for eight years, it’s only just that the South governs for the same period,” Governor Sule stated. As the Chairman of the North Central Governors Forum, Sule highlighted past endorsements Tinubu received from influential governors who believed in his ability to transform Nigeria, just as he transformed Lagos into a major commercial hub. “Despite the political tension then, we stood our ground and worked to elect Tinubu. Today, the same people who supported him now criticize him because they didn’t get their share,” he said. Sule reaffirmed his stance that leadership should not be assessed based solely on temporary setbacks, urging Nigerians to be patient as long-term reforms take root. “Whether President Tinubu is perceived as good or bad, we must support his continuity to complete eight years,” he added. He also warned against political instability and the dangers of switching narratives for personal gain. “We must stand by our earlier decisions and remain consistent. Leadership demands unity and patience,” the governor advised. Tinubu on Working Visit in France Currently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in France on a two-week working vacation. Zelenskyy Cautioned Over Controversial US-Ukraine Mineral Deal

A senior Ukrainian economist, Volodymyr Landa, affiliated with the Centre for Economic Strategy in Kyiv, has raised concerns regarding the US-Ukraine mineral agreement, describing it as both “unfair” and “unrealistic.” His remarks were published in a Guardian UK report. Landa highlighted that the proposed mineral accord has undergone several changes and remains vague in terms of its core content. He said, “It’s hard to say what’s inside,” implying that the agreement lacks transparency and definitive structure. Zelenskyy Pushes for Equal Partnership Terms Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is working to improve diplomatic and economic ties with the United States, especially in the context of resource development. However, he has rejected the U.S. condition that funds generated from the new joint mineral resource initiative should be used to offset the cost of military supplies provided by the Biden administration. It’s worth noting that former President Donald Trump had publicly claimed that Ukraine owed the U.S. $300 billion, sparking international debate on the matter. In response, President Zelenskyy reaffirmed that the aid received was granted by Congress with bipartisan approval and was not meant to be repaid. He emphasized that future collaborations must be equitable and beneficial to both nations, advocating for a “parity-based” partnership. “Our cooperation must not be framed in debt but in shared prosperity and fairness,” Zelenskyy stated in a recent press briefing. Global Economic Repercussions Feared Landa warned that forcing Ukraine to treat previously non-refundable aid as debt could lead to serious global economic implications. “If it suddenly becomes acceptable to convert unconditional support into retroactive debt, it may damage financial trust worldwide,” he noted. Such a precedent could discourage nations and international organizations from offering grants in the future, knowing they might later be held liable for repayment. This could reopen long-settled geopolitical and economic issues, setting a dangerous standard for international aid and partnerships. Zelenskyy Says Putin’s Easter Ceasefire Fails to Halt Clashes in Russian Border Areas

LMSINT MEDIA reports that hostilities persist in Russia’s border territories of Kursk and Belgorod, despite President Vladimir Putin’s declaration of an Easter ceasefire. This was disclosed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stated that combat is still active in those regions, suggesting that Putin’s call for peace has not been implemented locally. “Kursk and Belgorod regions – Putin’s Easter statements did not spread to this territory. Fighting continues, Russian strikes continue,” Zelenskyy posted on his official social media handle. The Ukrainian president did not offer verifiable proof to support his assertion, but the situation raises concerns about the effectiveness and reach of the Kremlin’s ceasefire announcement. Putin’s ceasefire proposal, announced earlier on Orthodox Easter Saturday, was meant to last for 30 hours, aligning with the sacred observance. However, the lack of calm in certain Russian border regions suggests either a breakdown in communication or deliberate noncompliance from forces on the ground. According to a report by Reuters (external link), the Russian leader’s gesture aimed to show goodwill amid stalled diplomatic efforts. The United States had also warned it might walk away from ongoing peace negotiations if visible steps toward ending the war are not made soon by both Moscow and Kyiv. Why It Matters This development complicates the fragile state of peace talks and highlights the disconnect between public political declarations and military realities. If Putin’s ceasefire fails to hold even within Russian territory, it raises questions about how effective future negotiations can be.
