Rhapsody of Realities May 6th 2025, KEEP A DIARY OF SOULS

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD Here’s my concern: that you care for God’s flock with all the diligence of a shepherd… (1 Peter 5:2 MSG). In the previous study, we reviewed the importance of complete evangelism. When you lead someone to Christ, you should keep track of their journey in Christ. Two years later, for example, you should still remember them and keep praying for them. Consider keeping a diary of the people you lead to Christ, and you’ll be amazed at how long that list will become over time. As you lead people to Christ, encourage them to do the same. Tell them, “When you lead someone to Christ, let me know. You can send me their names and addresses. I’ll be praying for them.” As your list grows, take time to bow your knees before the Father and pray for everyone on your list. The Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, said in Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.” Pray like this for those whose names are on your list. Be strategic with your intercession for them, that they be established in the faith, doing the will of the Father, active in the work of the ministry, and bringing glory to God always. Pray also for other new converts whom the Lord has added to the church, that they be established in the Word, firmly rooted and grounded in the faith, and that the Lord is perfecting His work in their lives for His glory. Pray for them to be more and more passionate, committed and fearless labourers of the end-time harvest, and that through them, more souls receive the Gospel gladly and are converted to the Kingdom. In John 17:12, Jesus said, “…those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost….” This should always be your testimony concerning all those you lead to Christ or those whom the Lord adds to your local assembly through your evangelical efforts. Remember that evangelism has to be a conscious effort. It must be a sincere and personal ministry; it’s not a one-time event. It is a continuous, deliberate effort to bring others into God’s Kingdom and follow them up until they’re nurtured and grounded in the Faith. PRAYERDear Father, thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the ministry of reconciliation. I take personal responsibility for those I lead to Christ. I remain fervent in prayer for their growth and dedication to spiritual things. Thank you for the joy and fulfilment of seeing lives transformed for your glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Atiku May Not Be Destined To Lead Nigeria – Presidential Aide Advises Former Vice President

A senior official in the presidency has remarked that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar may not be divinely appointed to serve as President of Nigeria, encouraging him to embrace the possibility with acceptance and faith. Daniel Bwala, who serves as the Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, made this assertion during a televised interview on TVC News on Monday. During the program, he addressed the issues of political transition and the evolving landscape of opposition politics in Nigeria. Bwala emphasized the importance of accepting reality and advised Atiku to work hand in hand with President Tinubu in the interest of national development. “If I had a chance to speak to him directly, I would say: ‘Your Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, one must believe in destiny. God bestows leadership on whomever He pleases, and based on current events, it appears it may not be the divine will for you to govern this nation,’” he stated. The presidential aide called on Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, to align himself with Tinubu’s government and leave a remarkable legacy—even if it is accomplished through someone else. “There are still numerous ways to make a meaningful impact. You have shared a long-standing friendship with President Bola Tinubu—join forces and offer your input to build the Nigeria you both envisioned for the people. Your lasting memory could be that, even in your political twilight, you succeeded in achieving aspects of your aspirations, even if they were through your ally.” Bwala warned that if Atiku insists on running again and seeks the presidency at all costs, the end of his political journey might not unfold as pleasantly as expected. “At this point, he has witnessed significant losses from within his political base—perhaps 60 to 70 percent of his followers,” he continued. Bwala noted that many younger politicians who once stood by Atiku are now determined to establish their own paths to leadership and have shown no intention of stepping back. This commentary comes in the wake of multiple defections from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Earlier in March, Atiku stated that he remained uncertain about running for the presidency in 2027, noting that such a decision would depend on the availability of a strong and credible platform. 2027: Tinubu May Step Aside, Amaechi’s Intentions to Be Clarified Soon – Says APC Leader

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State and known political associate of former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi, has hinted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu might not pursue re-election in 2027. In a press release, Chief Eze stated that the political landscape in 2027 could bring unexpected developments, particularly if the United States releases a purported dossier involving President Tinubu. He emphasized that Chibuike Amaechi stands out as a strong contender who is best positioned to challenge President Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential race. According to Eze, a significant number of Nigerians are consistently reaching out to him, seeking clarity on Amaechi’s political future and whether he intends to contest the 2027 presidency. These inquiries focus on Amaechi’s political stance, his interest in leading the country, and whether he will declare his ambition officially. Eze, who once served as the National Publicity Secretary for the now-defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), shared that these frequent calls reflect widespread public dissatisfaction with the current administration’s governance. He remarked, “Nigerians are eager to understand Amaechi’s political direction because the existing government appears detached from the nation’s pressing issues. An administration that is solely focused on manipulating its way into power for 2027 has already failed in principle.” Chief Eze criticized the state of the nation under the current leadership, citing a deteriorating economy, food insecurity, widespread hunger, rampant violence, and daily occurrences of criminal activity as evidence of failed governance. He argued that any serious government would be actively seeking solutions rather than strategizing on how to retain power. He added, “The public call for Amaechi to take action stems from a national need for new direction. Nigeria is crying out for a leader who can bring stability and hope.” Highlighting Amaechi’s political history, Eze praised his public service record, describing him as a national asset and an ideal presidential candidate. He emphasized that individuals like Amaechi are crucial for leading Nigeria out of its current challenges. Eze concluded by stating that 2027 could unfold with major political upheavals. If the U.S. government follows through with its alleged plans to release a file on President Tinubu, it could change the course of the upcoming election. “Given the widespread failures of this administration, Tinubu’s re-election aspirations may not even reach the ballot,” he said.Related News: Brookings Institution – Nigeria’s Political Landscape. INTERPOL Uncovers Dozens of Canadian Stolen Vehicles in Nigeria During West Africa Crackdown

A global police effort led by INTERPOL has revealed a major stolen vehicle operation across West Africa, with numerous stolen cars, including several traced back to Canada, found in Nigeria. The operation, named “Safe Wheels,” involved law enforcement agencies across 12 West African countries and resulted in the identification of approximately 150 stolen vehicles. Among these, more than 75 were seized, including several located in Lagos, Nigeria. According to an official INTERPOL statement, the discovery was made possible through its Stolen Motor Vehicle (SMV) database, which plays a critical role in the global fight against vehicle theft. Vehicles were traced primarily from Canada, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. In 2024 alone, the database flagged over 270,000 stolen vehicles worldwide, offering law enforcement agencies across INTERPOL’s 196 member nations the ability to verify suspicious vehicles. Over a two-week period, police forces across West Africa inspected 12,600 vehicles. Popular vehicle brands found stolen included Toyota, Peugeot, and Honda. Traffickers moved these vehicles by both land and sea routes, with Nigeria being a key hub for shipping. Authorities from countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo took part in the large-scale inspection operation. In Lagos, officers from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) found six smuggled vehicles inside freight containers, four of which bore visible signs of forced entry. The vehicles, including Toyota and Lexus models, were verified by the SMV database as having been stolen in Canada earlier in 2024. Investigations into the shipment are ongoing and involve collaboration between the NCS and Canada’s INTERPOL National Central Bureau. David Caunter, INTERPOL’s Director of Organized and Emerging Crime, emphasized the importance of the SMV platform. He described it as a vital tool for tracking stolen vehicles and exposing the organized networks behind their smuggling. Federal High Court Sets May 29 for Hearing Lawsuit by Abuja Scavengers and Beggars Against Minister Wike, IGP, and Others

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has scheduled May 29, 2025, as the new hearing date for a legal case brought by vulnerable residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)—including street scavengers, beggars, and small-scale traders—against the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and several federal agencies. Justice James Omotosho presided over the case and approved an adjournment following a request made by the plaintiffs’ counsel, Adamu Mahmood. Mahmood sought additional time to file a supplementary affidavit in response to a counter-affidavit recently submitted by one of the defendants. The plaintiffs, who represent a marginalized population in Abuja, are pursuing N500 million in compensation. They argue that their constitutional rights were infringed upon due to alleged unlawful treatment by the authorities. According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had previously filed a counter-affidavit on April 15, 2025. The document, sworn by an officer named Goodness Akomolafe, categorically rejected all claims made by the plaintiffs. The NSCDC maintained that no infringement on fundamental human rights occurred in any of their enforcement actions. Similarly, the Department of State Services (DSS)—another party to the case—also rejected the allegations. The DSS requested the court to dismiss the lawsuit on the grounds that the accusations are baseless. The original legal motion, referenced as FHC/ABJ/CS/1749/3024, was filed by legal practitioner Abba Hikima. Representing the collective interests of the vulnerable residents, Hikima filed the motion on November 20, 2024, a day after it was dated. The lawsuit targets six respondents: Minister Nyesom Wike, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the Director-General of DSS, and the Commandant-General of NSCDC, as the 1st through 4th respondents. The Attorney-General of the Federation and the Federal Government of Nigeria are also listed as the 5th and 6th respondents. Hikima is advocating for an order from the court that would compel these government institutions to pay ₦500 million in general and exemplary damages. The compensation is intended to address the purported infringement of the basic rights of economically disadvantaged individuals found on the streets of Abuja. Tinubu Orders Ban on Foreign Goods, Launches National Industrialisation Policy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instituted a comprehensive ban on the importation of foreign products, particularly those that can be locally manufactured in Nigeria. He has also imposed strict guidelines for foreign workers entering Nigeria to execute projects that skilled Nigerian artisans and contractors are capable of handling. Such foreign involvement will now require explicit clearance from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), with clear justification. This announcement was made public by Mohammed Idris, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President at the State House, Abuja. According to Minister Idris, the President’s decision is a bold economic reform designed to empower Nigeria’s domestic industries and elevate local productivity. This newly approved framework is titled the Renewed Hope Nigeria First Policy. The minister compared this approach to the “America First” model once championed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, highlighting a redirection of government spending to favor local businesses and reduce reliance on foreign imports. “This initiative promotes a confident, self-reliant business culture,” Idris stated. “It prioritizes local industries and ensures public investment supports Nigerian-made goods and services.” To solidify the framework, President Tinubu has mandated the Attorney General of the Federation to prepare an Executive Order that will legally enforce this policy. Major Highlights of the Renewed Hope Nigeria First Policy Citing Nigeria’s sugar industry as a case study, the minister lamented ongoing imports despite local production capabilities through bodies like the Nigerian Sugar Council. He emphasized that the new policy seeks to halt such oversight and stimulate local capacity. “Contractors can no longer operate as middlemen importing goods, while local industries remain underutilized. Our spending must circulate within Nigeria,” he emphasized. This Nigeria First initiative forms part of the broader economic reforms pursued by the Tinubu administration, which also includes fuel subsidy removal, a new FX regime, and policies aimed at rebuilding investor trust. The administration views this as a vital step toward promoting industrialization, job creation, and sustainable economic growth through local empowerment. Despite anticipated resistance and implementation bottlenecks, officials maintain that the government is committed to strict enforcement. “This marks a transformative shift in our economic policy. It places Nigeria—its industries, workforce, and innovation—at the core of our developmental goals,” Idris concluded. The Renewed Hope Nigeria First Policy will become fully operational following the signing of the Executive Order by the President. Media Aides of Peter Obi Allegedly in Talks to Join APC – Presidential Spokesman Reveals

A fresh wave of political realignments appears to be unfolding, this time involving the inner circle of Peter Obi, the presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party in the last general elections. According to Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Media and Policy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, discussions are ongoing between key members of Obi’s team and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). During a recent television appearance, Bwala disclosed that a number of Obi’s trusted associates are either already part of the APC or in advanced negotiations to join. He emphasized that one prominent handler within Obi’s media structure has defected to the APC, while another is currently in dialogue with party officials. Bwala stated, “Governors are coming over to our party independently. But more importantly, the strategic coordinators behind major opposition candidates are making the move too. Take Peter Obi, for instance — one of his handlers has joined us already, and another is actively in talks with the leadership. Additionally, a spokesperson from his media team has shown keen interest in aligning with our party.” He further clarified that these defections are not driven by financial incentives. “No one is being paid to join. They’re making this choice because, while our government isn’t flawless, we are focused, intentional, and building a broad-based national unity,” he asserted. Police Officer Faces Backlash for Tying Ganduje’s Shoelaces in Viral Video

A Nigerian police officer has come under intense scrutiny online after a viral video captured him tying the shoelaces of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the current national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The clip, which circulated widely on Monday, features Ganduje standing as the unnamed officer kneels to fix his footwear—a gesture that has ignited a wave of disapproval across digital platforms. Nigerians took to social media to express disappointment, questioning why an officer in uniform would engage in such a seemingly subservient act. Critics argue that it erodes the dignity and ethical standards expected of the police force. While a few individuals suggested that Ganduje may have played a pivotal role in the officer’s life, many users harshly criticized the behavior as inappropriate and demeaning. A user identified as @og_cemoni questioned, “Would he have done the same for an ordinary Nigerian? The uniform represents national duty, not age or status. This task should belong to a personal aide, not a law enforcement officer.” Another user, @kelvin_kertz, expressed concern over class disparities in law enforcement: “In this country, the police serve the masses as protectors, and the privileged as errand runners. It seems the Nigeria Police Force is now adding ‘nanny’ to its list of duties.” Some social media users attempted to defend the officer’s actions. @ayenielijahofficial commented, “You don’t know what Ganduje has done for him. People are often willing to go above and beyond for someone who once changed their lives.” However, others pointed to deeper systemic issues. @franknero400 stated, “This is a clear example of how the APC-led administration has turned our security operatives into domestic aides. It’s disgraceful.” This social media outrage comes shortly after another controversial video showed Nigerian police officers receiving money from a Chinese national. That earlier scandal attracted widespread condemnation and led the Force Headquarters to initiate disciplinary actions against those implicated.
