Governor Siminalayi Fubara Encourages Resilience Amid Political Crisis
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured residents that the ongoing political turmoil will ultimately strengthen the state rather than weaken it.
During a special Eid-el-Fitr celebration at his private residence in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara welcomed Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. He commended their support and prayers, emphasizing that the essence of the season embodies love, sacrifice, and unity.
Speaking to the delegation, Fubara encouraged his supporters to remain steadfast, trust in divine guidance, and believe that every challenge leads to a greater purpose.
Commitment to Justice and Stability
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reiterated his dedication to justice and equality, ensuring a governance system free from oppression. He assured the Muslim community that their pending requests would be addressed once the political situation stabilizes.
Drawing a biblical analogy, Fubara urged patience, saying, “If God could wait for Noah, allowing even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience is vital in our struggles.”
He also cautioned against individuals seeking to incite violence and disrupt the state’s peace, urging residents to reject forces attempting to destabilize Rivers State. He reassured the people that his administration remains committed to governance that respects constituted authority and fosters peace.
Muslim Leaders Reaffirm Support
Representing the Muslim Ummah, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor reaffirmed unwavering support for Governor Fubara, applauding his commitment to inclusive governance. He highlighted that the majority of Muslims in Rivers State stand with Fubara due to his dedication to unity and religious tolerance.
Unlike previous administrations that declared Rivers a 100% Christian state, Uhor praised Fubara for acknowledging the Christian majority while fostering inclusivity.
Urging the governor to remain steadfast, Uhor referenced Islamic teachings that emphasize believers are tested through wealth, power, and authority.
He further called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the emergency rule in Rivers State and reinstate Fubara’s full authority, emphasizing that the governor has continued to lead effectively despite the political turmoil.
