Anambra Governor Advocates Homeland Development, Calls for Business Expansion in Eastern Region
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has urged the Igbo community residing in Lagos to prioritize investing in the Southeast, fostering economic growth and attracting foreign capital to the region.
Speaking at the Anambra Homeland Consciousness Initiative event held in Lagos over the weekend, Soludo emphasized the importance of channeling Igbo entrepreneurial energy into developing their homeland. He highlighted the community’s resilience and business acumen, which have led to prosperity in various parts of the world.
“We, Ndigbo, are an enterprising people, gifted with exceptional wisdom, ingenuity, and determination. Just like the cactus that thrives in harsh conditions, we have consistently flourished despite challenges. Now, it is time to direct that strength towards our homeland,” Soludo stated.
However, the governor expressed concerns over the trend of prioritizing investments in other regions while neglecting economic expansion in the Southeast. He stressed the need for self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
“Charity begins at home. In light of the current economic and political realities, we must reassess our investment patterns and take proactive measures to safeguard and grow our businesses within our homeland,” he added.
Building an Economic Hub in the Southeast
Soludo called on Igbo entrepreneurs to adopt a ‘Homeland Consciousness’ investment strategy, focusing on creating business hubs and economic clusters in the Southeast. According to him, establishing these hubs will not only reduce poverty but also attract global investors and foster regional prosperity.
“We need to replicate the successes we have achieved elsewhere right here at home. Our region has immense potential to become a thriving business center, and we must take decisive steps to make it a reality,” the governor asserted.
Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and initiatives that will drive economic transformation in the Southeast. He urged business leaders to take bold actions in ensuring the region becomes a powerhouse of innovation, commerce, and wealth creation.
