Soludo Emerges APGA Flagbearer For Anambra 2025 Election, Picks Ibezim As Running Mate

In a unanimous party decision, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has been selected as the official All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The APGA primary election was conducted at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Saturday, with Soludo running unopposed. According to the returning officer, Uche Nwegbo, a total of 3,172 valid votes were cast, and the governor secured 3,168 yes votes, affirming his candidacy.

“By the authority vested in me and following INEC’s guidelines, I hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the duly elected candidate of our party,” stated Nwegbo.

Accepting the nomination, Soludo expressed deep gratitude to party delegates and supporters. He reiterated APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics, saying:

“Anambra and APGA are inseparable. This nomination is a vote of confidence, and I wholeheartedly accept it.”

Soludo emphasized his administration’s achievements and noted that they had been accomplished without external loans.

“We’ve done the impossible without borrowing a single Naira. This is just the beginning; Anambra hasn’t seen anything yet,” he declared, while acknowledging support from local businesses and grassroots contributors, including market women.

In line with his continuity message, the governor announced Dr. Onyeka Ibezim as his running mate, retaining him from their 2021 joint ticket. Citing a popular lecture he once delivered titled “If It’s Not Broken, Why Mend It?”, Soludo said:

“Dr. Ibezim remains the best choice. Our synergy is solid, and our mission is unfinished.”

The 2025 campaign is expected to be robust, with Soludo aiming to sweep all 21 local governments and 326 wards in Anambra State.
