Anambra State Achieves Historic Milestone with Permanent Government House
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has announced a groundbreaking achievement—delivering the first-ever permanent Government House and Governor’s Lodge in the state, breaking a 34-year-old jinx. The project, which he describes as a “mini city,” is set to be commissioned soon and is expected to stand the test of time.
Anambra’s First Permanent Government House After 34 Years
Speaking at the project site in Awka to the Late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah Media Team, Soludo expressed pride in this accomplishment. He emphasized that despite Anambra being created over three decades ago, no past administration had successfully built a permanent Government House and Governor’s Lodge.
“I promised that we would break the jinx, and we have done it with the biggest and best. Someone even called it a mini city,” Soludo stated. He further compared its durability to that of the White House in the United States, highlighting its architectural significance.
Soludo Rejects World Bank Loan, Avoids State Debt
In a bold move to ensure financial sustainability, Soludo revealed that Anambra State pulled out of an existing World Bank loan arrangement. He explained that his administration has not borrowed from any financial institution and even turned down the Federal Government’s 2024 loan offer to states.
“It may interest you to know that Anambra is the only state that withdrew from an already signed World Bank loan agreement before I took office,” Soludo said. “The terms were unsustainable, and while it would have been easy to continue, I refused to mortgage Anambra’s future.”
Soludo highlighted that despite the financial constraints, his administration has successfully executed numerous development projects across the state without accruing debt.
Massive Road Construction Across Anambra State
Governor Soludo also underscored his commitment to infrastructure development, stating that his administration has worked on over 750km of roads, with 410km already completed. He stressed that many of these roads are in areas that had never been tarred before, ensuring even development across Anambra.
Commendations from Media Leaders
Leader of the media group, Mr. Kamen Ogbonna, commended Soludo’s achievements, emphasizing that the governor’s ability to deliver such monumental projects without borrowing aligns with their vision for sustainable governance.
“It is remarkable that in just three years, Governor Soludo has accomplished what previous administrations avoided. The magnitude of the Government House and Governor’s Lodge speaks volumes,” Ogbonna stated.
Conclusion
Soludo’s administration continues to set new benchmarks in governance, infrastructure, and financial prudence. His ability to execute large-scale projects without relying on loans positions Anambra as a model state in Nigeria.
