Six people were killed, and many others injured following an attack by youths on Fulani residents in Mera community, Augie Local Government Area, Kebbi State, on Sunday evening.
The violence reportedly erupted after some Fulani individuals were accused of being involved in recent bandit attacks in the area. The trigger came when a survivor of a bandit raid on Friday informed the community youths that he had recognized some of the attackers as Fulani, locally referred to as “Lakurawa.”
Outraged by this information, the youths launched a retaliatory attack, resulting in the deaths of six Fulani residents and leaving several others wounded.
