Shocking Assassination of UNIMED Registrar, Ezekiel Adeniran, Just 6 Months After Appointment

The Ondo State Police Command has officially verified that Mr. Ezekiel Adeniran, the Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo State, was deliberately murdered in a suspected assassination.

The deceased, aged 41, was found dead in his home located in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, during the early hours of Thursday. Adeniran, who assumed the role of Registrar at UNIMED in January 2025, met a tragic and sudden end, sparking widespread concern and grief.

Confirming the tragic development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that the incident was indeed an assassination case.

According to Ayanlade, “The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday. This case was officially reported to the Fanibi Police Division. We can confirm that he was murdered.”

The police spokesperson further revealed disturbing details surrounding the registrar’s death:

“Preliminary intelligence suggests that two unidentified men emerged from the nearby bush and forcibly administered an unidentified substance into another individual’s mouth. However, the exact location of this incident is yet to be determined. Our primary objective is to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this heinous act.”

Ayanlade stressed the police command’s commitment to a thorough investigation, assuring that efforts are underway to uncover the full circumstances and motives behind the crime.

In his plea to the public, Ayanlade urged anyone with credible information regarding the assailants to come forward, assuring that such tips would be handled discreetly and confidentially.

“We encourage any well-meaning individual with useful information to approach us. We guarantee that every piece of information will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” he assured.

Meanwhile, the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) administration expressed profound sorrow over the registrar’s death. In an official statement released by the institution’s Head of Media and Protocol, Mr. Isaac Oluyi, the management confirmed the tragic loss.

The statement read:

“The heartbreaking news of Mr. Adeniran’s death has plunged the university community into deep mourning. The shock is indescribable, especially since he was actively at work as recently as Monday, 14th July 2025. As of this communication, the exact cause of his death remains undetermined.”

This tragic incident has left both the university community and the broader public in shock, as many seek justice for the untimely and brutal killing of the esteemed registrar.
