Shettima Heads to UAE for Oil Facility Inauguration and Strategic Engagements

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the official commissioning and naming ceremony of a $315 million oil production and storage facility. This state-of-the-art facility was acquired by Oriental Energy Ltd., a fully Nigerian-owned oil and gas company, and is set to be inaugurated on December 14.

According to a statement by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice-President, Shettima’s visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing its oil and gas sector.

Key Highlights of Shettima’s Trip

1. Dubai Oil Facility Inauguration:
   The oil production and storage facility marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s private oil and gas ventures. The $315 million project showcases Nigeria’s growing influence and investment in the global energy sector.
2. Religious Visit to Saudi Arabia:
   Following the event in Dubai, Vice-President Shettima will head to Saudi Arabia from December 16 to 19 to perform the lesser hajj (Umrah) in the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah.
3. Bilateral Meeting with IsDB President:
   On December 20, the Vice-President is scheduled to meet with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah. Discussions will center on co-financing arrangements for Phase II of Nigeria’s Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) and improving the coordination of IsDB projects in the country. These efforts aim to enhance agricultural productivity and boost Nigeria’s economic growth.
4. Return to Nigeria:
   Vice-President Shettima is expected back in the country on or before December 21.
