Serie A Title Race: Allegri Names Inter as Leading Contender for This Season

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has identified Inter Milan as the team most likely to secure the Serie A championship this season.

The Milan manager shared his thoughts during his post-match media briefing following AC Milan’s narrow 1–0 victory over Inter in the highly anticipated Serie A derby played over the weekend.

The decisive moment in the encounter came during the first half when Pervis Estupiñán found the back of the net. His early strike proved enough to separate the two rivals and secure an important win for Allegri’s squad at the historic San Siro stadium on Sunday.

Despite the crucial derby triumph, the result has not significantly altered the overall standings in Italy’s top-flight league. After completing 28 matches in the Serie A campaign, AC Milan remain in second place, trailing league leaders Inter by seven points.

Speaking after the match, Allegri admitted that Inter still maintain a strong advantage in the race for the championship.

According to the Milan boss, the Nerazzurri possess both the quality and the consistency required to finish the season at the top of the table.

“Inter have a seven-point lead,” Allegri said during his interview with DAZN Italia, as reported by Football Italia.

He explained that such a gap at this stage of the campaign provides a significant cushion in the title race. Because of their position and overall strength, Allegri believes Inter remain the most likely club to claim the Serie A trophy if they continue their current form.

Even though Milan secured the derby victory, the coach acknowledged that Inter still hold the upper hand due to their points advantage and squad depth.

With several fixtures still remaining before the conclusion of the season, the battle for the championship remains mathematically open. However, Allegri’s remarks highlight the reality of the standings and the challenge Milan faces if they hope to close the gap.
