Senator Bamidele’s Easter Message Encourages Nigerian Leaders to Embrace Unity and Reject Divisive Politics
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central, has shared a heartfelt Easter message with Nigerians and Christians globally, encouraging national leaders to forgo divisive rhetoric and prioritize unity and peace-building.
Addressing the symbolic essence of Easter—the resurrection of Jesus Christ—Senator Bamidele emphasized the need for national reflection on the principles Christ exemplified: love, sacrifice, justice, and compassion for all humanity.
“As we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we must reflect on His values and embody His purposeful life, marked by justice, love, and selflessness,” the senator stated.
He underscored the need for collective harmony, noting that Nigeria’s development depends on cooperation among its diverse population, not division or antagonism.
Bamidele criticized the recent tragic events in Benue and Plateau States, calling them stark contradictions of the teachings of Christ, especially the values of peace and compassion. He further expressed concern over the rise in provocative statements by political and sectional actors, which, according to him, only widen societal fractures and delay national progress.
“True development will not arise from rivalry between regions or groups. We must act as allies, not adversaries,” he emphasized.
Legislative Steps Toward National Security
The senator revealed that the National Assembly is actively working on legal frameworks to enable the creation of state police forces—a decisive step aimed at addressing Nigeria’s persistent insecurity challenges.
He called on security operatives to collaborate across agencies to apprehend those behind terror attacks, stressing that only a unified response can guarantee national safety.
A Call for National Rebirth
Senator Bamidele warned political figures who exploit the country’s instability for self-serving political agendas. He urged them to emulate Christ’s example of sacrifice and righteousness, rather than sow seeds of discord.
“Our nation is a shared endeavor. We must all commit to its growth and healing,” Bamidele said.
He reiterated the commitment of the 10th National Assembly to fostering peace and prosperity through meaningful legislative reforms aimed at building a vibrant, inclusive federation.
