Moscow Intensifies Attacks on Ukraine with Missiles and Drones
On Tuesday, Ukrainian authorities reported a widespread assault by Russia involving drones and missiles, acknowledging successful strikes in the eastern region and areas close to the capital, Kyiv.
Although officials did not specify the exact targets, the governor of the Kyiv region confirmed that debris from a downed projectile damaged a private residence and injured a woman.
Russia’s defense ministry claimed the coordinated attack utilized precision weapons and drones, targeting a military airfield and a munitions facility. Moscow stated these targets were effectively struck.
Ukraine’s air force revealed that Russia launched 21 missiles and 40 drones during the assault. Of these, seven missiles and 16 drones were intercepted and destroyed. According to the air force, ballistic missile strikes were recorded in the Sumy and Kyiv regions as part of this attack.
Since the invasion began in February 2022, Russia has consistently conducted nightly aerial attacks on Ukraine, targeting both civilian and military infrastructure, including energy systems.
In retaliation, Ukraine has ramped up its drone and missile operations within Russian territory, urging Western allies to supply advanced air defense systems. On the same day, a Ukrainian drone strike reportedly caused a fuel spill and a fire at an oil depot in western Russia, according to a Russian regional governor.
