Russian Attacks Intensify, Hitting Civilians and Infrastructure

In a series of overnight drone strikes on Ukraine, at least one person was killed, and several others, including children, sustained injuries. The attacks occurred in different regions of the country, with Ukrainian officials confirming the damage and casualties.

Civilian Casualties in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv

The governor of Zaporizhzhia, a southeastern region of Ukraine, reported on the Telegram messaging app that a 45-year-old civilian lost his life due to a Russian drone strike. Additionally, two others were injured in an attack near the frontline.

Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, 15 drone strikes were carried out, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. He confirmed that four individuals were injured, including two children.

Oleh Sinehubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, further detailed that among the wounded were a 9-month-old infant and a 7-year-old boy.

Ceasefire Accusations and Military Response

These attacks come amid mutual accusations from both Russia and Ukraine of violating a U.S.-brokered partial ceasefire. The ceasefire agreement aimed at preventing strikes on critical energy and Black Sea infrastructure, but both sides continue to engage in hostilities.

The extent of the Russian assault remains unclear. However, Ukraine’s Navy reported on Telegram that its naval forces successfully intercepted and destroyed six Russian drones in southern Ukraine.

Increasing Russian Strikes on Kharkiv

Russia has significantly intensified its attacks on Kharkiv, launching continuous assaults on the city. Over the past weekend, at least two civilians were killed, and several others suffered injuries due to relentless strikes.

The Ongoing War and Civilian Impact

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022, marking over three years of relentless warfare. Both nations have denied deliberately targeting civilians, asserting that their strikes aim at strategic military infrastructure.
