Lagos State’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS), under the command of the Lagos State Police Command II, has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Safiyanu Abubakar, for allegedly vandalizing homes by removing aluminum windows and electrical wires.
The arrest occurred on Monday, June 2, 2025, and was officially confirmed by the Lagos State Police via their verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday.
According to the official police statement, the young man was apprehended in the Eyita Estate area of Itamaga, Ikorodu, a residential neighborhood in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The RRS operatives revealed that Abubakar was allegedly caught in the act as he moved from one house to another, dismantling windows and stripping buildings of electricity cables.
“Our operatives arrested a suspected vandal yesterday in Eyita Estate, Itamaga, Ikorodu,” the police post read. “He was seen unlawfully removing aluminum window frames and electrical wiring from multiple homes in the area.”
Following his apprehension, the suspect was immediately taken into police custody at the scene of the incident. He has since been charged to court, where he will face legal proceedings related to the allegations.
