The Rivers State Government has officially denounced a misleading recruitment announcement that falsely claimed 10,000 graduates and non-graduates were to be hired into the Rivers State Civil Service.
What Happened?
Earlier this week, an alleged government notice went viral on Facebook and other social media platforms, suggesting that Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the state’s Sole Administrator, had authorized a massive employment drive.
The fabricated message also asserted that a recruitment portal would go live by Sunday, April 13, 2025, inviting applications from both qualified graduates and non-graduates.
Rivers Government’s Official Response
In a prompt reaction, Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, the Acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, issued an official statement debunking the viral recruitment message.
According to her, the information is completely false, and citizens are urged to ignore the misleading notice.
“We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public that this is false. The fake announcement should be ignored.”
Furthermore, she clarified that authentic recruitment information will only be released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission through verified channels.

The viral announcement was reportedly signed by Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika, who is the Secretary to the State Government. However, no such communication originated from his office, according to verified sources within the government.
