Rivers First Lady Hosts Memorable Christmas Party for Children, Promotes Exemplary Conduct

The Rivers State First Lady, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, celebrated the spirit of Christmas with children from across the state, fostering joy, unity, and positive values during the 2024 Christmas Children’s Party. Held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the event welcomed children from all 23 Local Government Areas, including non-indigenes and children with special needs.

Addressing the gathering, Lady Fubara expressed her delight at the well-mannered nature of Rivers children and urged them to continue supporting their families while striving to make meaningful contributions in their communities.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara also graced the occasion, interacting warmly with the children by moving from one canopy to another, exchanging greetings and creating lasting memories.

Lady Fubara emphasized the importance of Christmas as a time for reflection on the birth and mission of Jesus Christ, urging everyone to embrace the values of love, humility, and redemption.

Celebrating the Spirit of Giving
As part of the festivities, Lady Fubara visited the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and Rivers State University Teaching Hospital to celebrate the birth of children born on Christmas Day. She also extended her goodwill to nursing mothers and spent quality time with motherless babies at the Port Harcourt Children’s Home in Borikiri, appreciating their innocence and the joy they bring to the world.

During the party, she remarked, “Christmas is a time to come together as one family. Today, children from diverse backgrounds, including the physically challenged, have gathered to celebrate, play, eat, and dance. Gifts were also distributed to ensure the day remains etched in their memories.”

Encouraging Positive Values Among Children
Lady Fubara urged children to emulate the example of Jesus Christ by making a positive impact in their families and society. She encouraged them to remain humble, obedient, and supportive at home while excelling in their academics.

She said, “Be helpful at home, do your chores, and aim for excellent grades in school. Children are the pride of every home, and we are blessed to have well-behaved children in Rivers State. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2025 to you all!”

Lady Fubara also appreciated her husband, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of children and his support in ensuring the success of the event.

Exciting Performances and Fun Activities
The event featured captivating performances by Virtue Dancers, Kalabari Iria Dancers, Wonder Time Children from Opobo Kingdom, Rivers State Council of Arts and Culture, Diseye the Poet, and DJ Arnold.

The 2024 Christmas Children’s Party left a lasting impression on attendees, reinforcing the values of unity, love, and exemplary conduct.
