Rising Insecurity: PDP and ADC Call for Urgent Government Response

Nigeria’s rising insecurity has again come under sharp criticism as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) strongly denounce the recent attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, situated in the Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to a statement from Ini Ememobong, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, the school invasion is a worrying reminder of the rapidly escalating insecurity affecting communities nationwide. He stressed that the unfortunate incident highlights the growing vulnerability of students, teachers, and rural populations who constantly face threats from armed groups.

Both political parties expressed deep concern over the safety of young girls in public schools, warning that such attacks undermine Nigeria’s education system and weaken public confidence in security agencies. They emphasized that the event in Maga reflects a dangerous trend that requires immediate intervention at all levels of government.

The PDP insisted that the Federal Government must not ignore the red flags signaling insecurity spreading across states, urging authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering, reinforce community-based security networks, and deploy adequate personnel to sensitive areas. The party noted that failure to act swiftly may further endanger innocent citizens and disrupt social stability.

Similarly, the ADC condemned the attack as “unacceptable and distressing,” calling for coordinated action between federal, state, and local governments. The party reiterated the need for rapid response mechanisms to prevent future assaults, stressing that the nation cannot allow criminal elements to endanger schoolchildren or destabilize rural institutions.

Both parties appealed to relevant agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the attack are captured and prosecuted. They urged the government to prioritize policies that address root causes of insecurity, including poverty, weak border control, and limited technological surveillance in vulnerable communities.
