Indian armed forces reported a retaliatory response to what they described as “unprovoked” firing from Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday night. This marks the fourth consecutive night of heightened hostilities, following a devastating militant attack on tourists in Kashmir last week.
According to LMSINT MEDIA, the April 22 incident, which tragically claimed 26 lives, has intensified the ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Indian authorities have identified two of the three attackers as Pakistani nationals. However, Islamabad has denied any involvement and has demanded an independent investigation to uncover the truth.
The horrific event has fueled widespread anger and sorrow throughout India. Many citizens and officials are urging swift and decisive action against Pakistan, whom New Delhi accuses of supporting and sponsoring terrorism in the disputed Kashmir region. The territory has long been a flashpoint, with India and Pakistan fighting two full-scale wars over its control.
The fallout from the attack has triggered a series of retaliatory measures from both countries. India has reportedly suspended the crucial Indus Waters Treaty, a vital water-sharing agreement, while Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian commercial flights (source).
The Indian Army disclosed that it retaliated with controlled fire at multiple Pakistani military posts along the 740-kilometer (460-mile) stretch of the de facto border late Sunday. No casualties have been reported so far. Pakistan’s military, however, has yet to release an official statement regarding the skirmish.
In a show of readiness, Indian defense forces have ramped up military exercises across the nation. This increased military activity underlines New Delhi’s commitment to national security amid rising regional tensions.
