In a remarkable display of faith and devotion, Pastor Foluke Adeboye, the wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led prayers for a transformative leadership across Nigeria and the world. She called on divine intervention to instill the “Spirit of Excellence” in all those holding positions of authority.
The prayers were part of the 40th-anniversary Holy Ghost Service held at Redemption City, marking a significant milestone in the church’s spiritual journey. The event drew thousands of worshippers who gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness and seek divine guidance for nations, with a particular focus on Nigeria.
Prayers for National Development and Governance
During the intercessory session, Pastor Mrs. Adeboye addressed pressing national concerns including insecurity, governance challenges, and substandard living conditions. She implored God to grant leaders wisdom, integrity, and excellence in governance to improve citizens’ quality of life.
“Lord, we pray for robust economic development that elevates the living standards of our people,” she prayed, contrasting Nigeria’s current infrastructural and social challenges with nations boasting efficient electricity, transportation, and security systems.
She emphasized that leadership infused with the Spirit of Excellence could transform Nigeria’s social and economic landscape. “When our leaders are empowered by divine excellence, citizens will enjoy better education, healthcare, and overall quality of life,” she added, underscoring the need for God’s mercy to guide national affairs.
Focus on Justice, Healthcare, and Security
Beyond governance, Pastor Mrs. Adeboye prayed for improvements in justice and healthcare systems, as well as protection against disease outbreaks and societal challenges. On security, she urged that leaders exercise integrity and make decisions aligned with God’s will, aiming for a more stable nation with reduced insecurity.
Her prayers extended to all tiers of leadership, from national government officials to local community heads, families, schools, and organizations, emphasizing that divine guidance is essential in all spheres of responsibility.
Global Prayers for Peace
Reflecting the RCCG’s commitment to global intercession, Pastor Mrs. Adeboye also prayed for world peace. She specifically mentioned regions experiencing conflict, including Israel, Iran, and Iraq, and asked for an end to violence and unrest worldwide.
Celebration of Excellence
The anniversary service, themed “Excellence,” featured uplifting worship led by RCCG’s mass choir, with attendees participating in dynamic praise and worship sessions. The General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, delivered a message centered on the excellence of God, encouraging believers to reflect divine excellence in their daily lives and interactions.
The event reinforced the RCCG’s commitment to spiritual growth, societal transformation, and fostering leaders who exemplify excellence in both personal and professional spheres.
