Nigerian TikTok influencer and online content creator Habeeb Peller Hamzat has finally addressed the public following his arrest and detention by the Lagos State Police Command. The development came after a widely shared video in which he engaged in dangerous driving and was alleged to have attempted to end his life during a livestream session on a major Lagos route.
“I am sorry, Nigerians. Please, I’m sorry. I will never do that again,” Peller said. “I’m very sorry, please. For now, I am on medication. Once I am done with my medication, I will be back online.”
The controversial event took place on Sunday, 14 December 2025, along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, where Peller’s livestream showed him driving recklessly, an act police described as not just unlawful but dangerously threatening to both his own life and that of other road users.
Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the influencer was taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command, and his case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry. Police have stated that once investigations conclude, Peller will be charged in court.
The backlash surrounding the incident was further intensified by reports connecting Peller’s conduct to emotional turmoil linked with his recent breakup with his girlfriend, widely known as Jarvis. She had publicly announced the end of their relationship, citing his emotional instability as a significant factor.
Authorities have used the case as a public reminder of the serious legal and safety consequences of reckless behaviour online, especially when it involves endangering lives. The Commissioner of Police has specifically urged social media influencers and content creators to avoid promoting such harmful acts for entertainment or attention.
