Police Uncover Illegal Weapons Factory, Arrest Suspects, And Recover Arms

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully dismantled an illegal weapons manufacturing operation in Benue State and made several key arrests. The operation highlights the police’s commitment to combating crime and enhancing public safety nationwide.

Illegal Weapons Factory Discovered in Benue State

A well-planned operation by police operatives led to the discovery of an illegal weapons manufacturing factory at Tse Akamabe in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. Two suspects, identified as Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume, were arrested in connection with the operation.

During the raid, several weapons and tools used for manufacturing arms were recovered, including:

9 locally fabricated pistols
1 unfinished locally fabricated AK-47 rifle
2 gas cylinders
4 vise machines
1 filing machine
Numerous other tools essential for illegal arms production

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed these details in a statement, emphasizing the importance of such operations in curbing illegal arms circulation.

Cultist Arrested in Delta State

In another breakthrough, police operatives attached to the Delta State Command conducted a raid on an apartment in the DSC area. The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the arrest of Prosper Akeni, a 32-year-old notorious member of the Eiye confraternity and a suspected hitman for the group.

Recovered from the raid were:

1 English revolver pistol
1 Beretta pistol
2 locally made double-barrel guns
2 locally made single-barrel guns
1 locally made revolver pistol
25 rounds of ammunition

According to the police, Prosper confessed that the recovered firearms belonged to his cult group and were under his custody due to his position as a top member of the group.

Homicide Arrests in Kebbi State

The police also reported two separate arrests in Kebbi State related to homicide cases:

Yunusa Haruna, a 25-year-old male from Bakin Turu Village, was arrested on December 31, 2024, for allegedly fatally stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, during a dispute.
Abubakar Ummar was apprehended on January 8, 2025, in Zuru Village for allegedly stabbing Mohammed Bala during an argument, leading to his immediate death.

Police Commendation and Call for Vigilance

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the operatives for their dedication and success in tackling crime. He urged the public to remain vigilant and share valuable information with law enforcement to strengthen community-based policing efforts.

The IGP also reassured Nigerians of the police’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security across the nation.
