In a heroic operation, the Ogun State Police Command successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, from the clutches of kidnappers. The victim was unharmed, and two of her captors were neutralized during the operation.

On the evening of January 16, 2025, around 9:45 pm, Mrs. Odumosu was abducted by four masked gunmen outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State. The armed assailants forcefully dragged her from her Lexus Jeep and fled the scene, sparking immediate concern and swift action from law enforcement.
Police Response and Tactical Operations
The Ogun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit launched a detailed investigation. With technical intelligence support from Force Headquarters, the operatives conducted an exhaustive surveillance of the surrounding creeks in Arepo, gathering critical information to track down the kidnappers.
Their efforts culminated in an intelligence-driven operation on January 23, 2025, at 6:45 am. Acting on credible leads, police officers raided a swampy creek in Ikorodu, believed to be the kidnappers’ hideout.
The Confrontation
Upon arrival at the scene, the police team faced heavy gunfire from the kidnappers. In the ensuing shootout, two kidnappers were neutralized, while four others fled, abandoning their weapons and leaving behind vital evidence.
During the raid, Mrs. Odumosu was located unharmed within the swampy area. She was promptly rescued and taken to safety. After undergoing medical evaluation as a precautionary measure, she was reunited with her family.

- Four AK-47 rifles
- Three locally made single-barrel rifles
- Ammunition of various calibers
- ₦10,000,000 ransom money previously demanded by the kidnappers
