The Katsina State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspects connected to the kidnapping and tragic murder of a 12-year-old boy. Additionally, authorities dismantled a four-member counterfeit currency syndicate in the state.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, provided details of the heartbreaking incident. According to Sadiq, the young victim was abducted on January 11th while running an errand. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦25 million but tragically killed the boy and abandoned his body despite ongoing negotiation efforts by the family.
“Following an in-depth investigation by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, suspects Muttaka Garba and Yusuf Usman were arrested. Both confessed to the crime,” DSP Sadiq stated.
The boy’s lifeless body was later discovered on the outskirts of Dankama town, marking a devastating end to the case.
Counterfeit Currency Syndicate Busted
In a separate crackdown, the Katsina Police arrested four suspects involved in currency counterfeiting and recovered a total of 1,018 fake banknotes. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice prevails in both cases.
