A popular social media figure and comedian, Aderombi Adedayo, widely known as Dee One and a former participant of the Big Brother Naija reality show, has revealed that he has been invited by the Nigeria Police Force for what has been described as a routine interview.
According to the details contained in the letter, which was signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department, the interview forms part of an ongoing inquiry. The document specifically described the meeting as a fact-finding engagement, indicating that it is meant to gather information rather than serve as a formal accusation.
The letter further instructed Dee One to present himself at the FID Annex Office in Lagos, and stated that the engagement would be handled through the OCCIOS team.
Responding publicly to the development, Dee One stated that he believes the police invitation may be connected to a video he recently shared online. The video, according to him, generated widespread reactions and prompted numerous phone calls from different individuals offering varying opinions.
He explained that reactions to the video have been mixed, with some people expressing support while others criticized his statements. Despite the differing viewpoints, Dee One maintained that he does not regret sharing the video and insisted that he acted within his rights.
The comedian emphasized that if the police invitation is indeed related to the content of the video, he would not issue an apology. He described his comments as personal opinions expressed in his capacity as a Nigerian citizen.
While explaining his position, Dee One referenced an incident that reportedly occurred in Turkey involving Nigeria’s President, which prompted him to share his thoughts publicly. He stated that his intention was to express his perspective as an ordinary citizen observing national issues.
He also revealed that some individuals accused him of cyberbullying and questioned his decision to mention the President’s family or comment on matters related to the Presidency. However, he reiterated that expressing personal opinions should not be considered wrongdoing.
Dee One concluded by stating that he would continue to keep Nigerians informed about any new developments surrounding the invitation and the outcome of the interview.
