Police Ban Firecrackers In Abuja For The Holiday Season

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a ban on firecrackers, also known as “knockouts,” for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure public safety.

In a statement, SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, explained that the ban aims to protect lives and property during the festive period. CP Olatunji Disu stressed that firecrackers can cause panic and anxiety in the community and pose serious risks, such as fire hazards and other preventable accidents.

Both sellers and users of firecrackers and fireworks found violating the ban will face arrest and prosecution under the law. Community leaders and residents are encouraged to spread awareness about the dangers of these items.
