PFN Warns of Ongoing Christian Genocide in Nigeria, Calls for Urgent Security Overhaul

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has reaffirmed its position that a continuous and targeted “Christian genocide” is taking place across several regions of the country. The organisation expressed deep concern over what it described as systematic assaults on Christian communities, stressing that the pattern of violence shows clear evidence of religious persecution rather than isolated security breakdowns.

According to PFN, Christian families, religious leaders, and community members have repeatedly been attacked, displaced, and in many cases killed, yet the federal authorities appear unresponsive. The body criticised what it sees as government indifference, arguing that the silence and inaction of security institutions suggest complicity or at least a troubling lack of political will to protect vulnerable populations.

PFN emphasized that the consistent attacks on Christian-dominated communities cannot be dismissed as random acts of criminality. Instead, the fellowship insists that the frequency, organisation, and brutality of these assaults reflect a deeper agenda that the government has refused to properly acknowledge or confront.

The Christian organisation further urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately overhaul the nation’s entire security framework. According to PFN, the current architecture has failed to prevent religiously motivated violence and has not provided adequate protection for communities facing repeated threats.

PFN appealed to Tinubu’s administration to prioritise intelligence-driven security operations, strengthen community protection, and hold those responsible for attacks accountable, regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation. They also encouraged the government to work with faith-based institutions, security experts, and affected communities to create long-term solutions that address the root causes of these killings.

The fellowship reiterated that Nigeria cannot continue to overlook the lives lost and communities destroyed. They warned that the ongoing attacks could escalate into wider instability if urgent steps are not taken to address the situation.
