Petrol to Sell at ₦739 Per Litre from Tuesday — Dangote

The President and Founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that petrol will officially retail at ₦739 per litre nationwide starting Tuesday, marking a significant pricing development in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector.

The announcement was made on Sunday during a press briefing at the Dangote Refinery located in Lekki, Lagos State. According to Dangote, the rollout of the new petrol price will begin with MRS filling stations in Lagos, after which it is expected to reflect across other parts of the country.

Dangote explained that the decision follows a recent reduction in the refinery’s gantry price, which was adjusted from ₦828 per litre down to ₦699 per litre just two days earlier. He noted that this move was deliberate and aimed at ensuring that Nigerians benefit from lower fuel costs at the pump.

The refinery’s management, he said, has been working closely with key distribution partners to make sure the price reduction at the gantry level translates effectively into affordable pump prices for consumers nationwide. Dangote emphasized that the pricing adjustment is part of broader efforts to stabilize fuel supply and reduce the financial pressure faced by motorists and businesses.

By commencing implementation at selected filling stations, the refinery aims to ensure a smooth transition and proper monitoring of compliance, especially in high-demand areas such as Lagos. Dangote reaffirmed the refinery’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy needs through local refining, reduced import dependence, and competitive pricing.
