Peace Talks with Bandits: Free Pass for Criminals – Northern Democrats

The League of Northern Democrats (LND) has strongly cautioned governors in the Northern region, urging them to adopt tougher measures to safeguard their states. The group emphasized that the increasing calls for peace negotiations with armed bandits could amount to giving criminals a free pass to continue their violent activities.

According to the LND, the idea of holding peace talks with bandit groups not only undermines justice but also encourages lawlessness, as it signals that violent actions may be rewarded with negotiations instead of punishment. The group argued that many communities in the North have suffered grave losses, including destruction of property, abduction of innocent citizens, and widespread insecurity, all caused by the same groups being considered for dialogue.

The Northern Democrats maintained that true leadership requires protecting the people through firm action, rather than offering incentives to criminal elements. They further urged governors to collaborate with security agencies to strengthen surveillance, intelligence, and coordinated operations that will dismantle these networks of violence.

The group added that prioritizing negotiation over enforcement sets a dangerous precedent. If governments continue to entertain dialogue with criminals, more individuals might be drawn into crime, believing it to be a pathway to recognition and eventual settlement.

The LND concluded that the path to lasting peace lies in justice, accountability, and proactive governance. They urged state leaders to resist pressures that encourage negotiations with violent actors and instead adopt policies that prioritize the security and dignity of law-abiding citizens.
