A coalition within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spearheaded by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has endorsed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the officially elected National Secretary. During a meeting in Abuja on Monday evening, several prominent PDP leaders, including former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue), also urged the party to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.
The group released a communique, read by Wike, stating:
“We wholeheartedly confirm Senator Anyanwu as the legitimately elected substantive National Secretary of our great party. In line with fairness and our party constitution, PDP must clearly designate that its 2027 presidential candidate will come from the south.”
They emphasized that Anyanwu is the only person authorized to issue official notices for key party gatherings, including the National Convention, National Working Committee, National Caucuses, and the National Executive Council (NEC), the PDP’s supreme decision-making body.
