Passenger Bus Somersaults Along Makurdi–Yelewata Road, Casualties Reported

A serious road accident occurred today along the Makurdi–Yelewata highway when a passenger bus traveling from Makurdi lost control and somersaulted into the nearby bush, just a few kilometers before reaching Yelewata.

According to early reports, casualties have been recorded, although the actual number of victims is yet to be officially confirmed. Eyewitnesses at the scene narrated that the bus veered off the road after struggling to maintain balance, resulting in a violent overturn.

First Responders and Delayed Intervention

One of the first responders disclosed that he immediately rushed to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office at Yelewata to report the crash. However, according to him, FRSC officers on duty allegedly refused to act, stating that the accident scene fell outside their jurisdiction. He was reportedly directed to lodge the report at the Daudu unit instead.
