Pakistani Defence Chief Praises Nigerian Military Amid Terrorist Attacks

On Thursday, General Shahir Mirza, Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, expressed his admiration for the Nigerian Armed Forces for their unwavering efforts in the ongoing battle against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.

Gen. Mirza offered his commendation during his visit to Nigeria, where he met with Nigeria’s Defence Chief, General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. This meeting was confirmed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, in a statement released in Abuja.

In addition to recognizing Nigeria’s military achievements, General Mirza acknowledged the long-standing, cooperative relationship between Nigeria and Pakistan. He noted the shared cultural, religious, and social similarities between the two nations, highlighting how these factors strengthened the bond between them. Furthermore, he referred to Nigeria as a leading power in Africa with significant geo-strategic importance to Pakistan.

Both countries, according to Gen. Mirza, have faced similar challenges in dealing with terrorism, insurgency, and various security issues. His remarks underscored the importance of mutual support and shared expertise in addressing these threats effectively.

In return, Nigeria’s Defence Chief, General Musa, emphasized the critical role of strategic collaboration between Nigeria and Pakistan, particularly in military training programs. Since the collaboration began, over 2,000 Nigerian officers have received training in various Pakistani military institutions.

LMSINT MEDIA also reports that Nigeria continues to face a severe security crisis, with increasing attacks from terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups. This week, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, raised alarms over the resurgence of Boko Haram in the region. He noted that the recent wave of attacks signals a worrying loss of control by the government in certain areas.
