Victor Osimhen and Michy Batshuayi teamed up to secure a 3-2 victory for Galatasaray against Samsunspor, marking the team’s sixth consecutive win. Osimhen’s brace helped the Turkish Super Lig side continue their impressive form.
The Nigerian striker, who has now scored six goals and provided two assists in six league appearances for Galatasaray, was instrumental in the win. Osimhen had previously netted two goals in a crucial UEFA Europa League group-stage match against Tottenham Hotspur, after Yunus Akgün had opened the scoring.
Following Mauro Icardi’s injury to his cruciate ligament in a recent match, coach Okan Buruk decided to deploy Osimhen as the sole striker, a decision that proved successful early in the game. In the third minute, Osimhen scored with a header from a Lucas Torreira cross, easing any early tensions. The striker also paid tribute to Icardi by holding up the injured forward’s jersey in celebration.
