A disturbing incident has shaken the Awoyaya area of Lagos State, as a violent confrontation between suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye cult groups reportedly led to the death of one individual. According to local sources, tension erupted after renewed rivalry between both confraternities escalated into open conflict, forcing residents to flee for safety.
Eyewitness videos circulating on the Telegram channel Naija Confra, widely recognized for sharing updates on cult-related activities across Nigeria, revealed chaotic scenes as youths believed to be members of both groups engaged in street battles. The footage showed residents in fear as the clash intensified across parts of the community.
Reports indicate that the violent outbreak started on Monday and continued through Tuesday, with the confrontation growing increasingly dangerous. The unrest eventually resulted in the death of a young man known within the area as Pelebe, sparking widespread concern among locals who described the incident as one of the most unsettling confrontations in recent times.
Community members have urged law enforcement authorities to deploy more security measures to prevent further retaliation or renewed hostilities. Residents also expressed fear that the situation could worsen if immediate interventions are not taken, especially as rival cult groups often launch follow-up attacks in response to casualties.
The Lagos State Police Command is expected to address the situation as investigations continue into the cause of the clash and the individuals involved.
