Concerns among prominent church members are rising as they believe his deteriorating condition could be fatal, prompting the ongoing leadership dispute.

Although Rowland’s first son, Prince Olumba Olumba Obu, is viewed as the rightful successor, he has been absent for several years, creating an opening for the second wife to position her own son as the next leader.
The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, headquartered in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, is a spiritual organization that sets itself apart from conventional Christianity. The group, abbreviated as BCS, asserts that it is not a church but rather the new Kingdom of God on Earth, with its founder, Olumba Olumba Obu, regarded as the personification of the Holy Spirit and the Creator. BCS teachings include concepts of incarnation and reincarnation, along with the promotion of veganism.
A significant part of the BCS doctrine is the belief that faith should replace medical treatment for healing.When Olumba Olumba Obu, the founder, passed away, he was reportedly buried in secret. Despite being declared immortal, many followers still believe he remains alive, secluded in prayer either on a mountain or underwater. A similar leadership conflict occurred after his death, with Rowland emerging as the leader over the founder’s first daughter. This event, like the death of Olumba’s wife, was marked by secrecy and led many members to continue believing that the founder, his wife, and daughter are alive.
