Ogun Police Nab Suspects for Burglary and Theft

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 22-year-old man, John Odeh, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle and other valuables worth ₦266,000 in the Odeda area of the state.

Odeh was caught riding the stolen red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, with registration number ABG 691 VC, around 5 PM on Sunday. The arrest followed a tip-off from the community’s chairman, Ogundele Muyiwa, who reported the incident to the authorities.

According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, detectives quickly acted on the report, leading to the suspect’s apprehension. During interrogation, Odeh admitted to breaking into the homes of two individuals, Friday Clement and Ode Daniel, to steal the motorcycle and other valuables.

Recovered Items:

  • Red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number ABG 691 VC)
  • Two bags containing clothes
  • A power bank
  • A pair of shoes

In a statement, Odutola said:
“On December 15, 2024, at about 7:00 PM, Ogundele Muyiwa, a 54-year-old Community Development Association (CDA) chairman, reported that one John Odeh was apprehended earlier at 5:00 PM while riding the stolen motorcycle. Items found in his possession included two bags of clothes, a power bank, and shoes.”

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.


Scavenger Caught Tampering with Window Grilles in Ago-Iwoye

In a separate incident, operatives of the Ago-Iwoye Police Division arrested a scavenger, Bashiru Rabiu, for attempting to steal window grilles from an unoccupied house on Odiolowo Street, Abobi, in Ago-Iwoye.

The suspect was caught in the act by a resident, Abdulrahman Rasheed, at around 11 AM on Sunday. When confronted, Rabiu fled toward a scavenger shop owned by his boss, Bashiru Muhammad. Community members chased him down and alerted the police, who recovered the stolen items and took the suspect into custody.

The Divisional Police Officer commended the swift action of both the residents and the officers, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspect is linked to other thefts in the area.
